I hope the Big 10 commissioner that whined about his schools having higher academic standards than the SEC knows about this.

And?

They still do.

Just because a guy spends a few years in the slammer shouldn't mean he should be denied an education. Good for clarrett.

Clarrett is a moron. He's also a felon. He's at Ohio State now. They can quit whining about having a tough time getting people in.

He took college courses in prison. Give the guy a break. At least he's trying to better himself instead of joining a gang or some other equally stupid venture.

I think some of you are missing kptvol's point. He is saying if the Big 10 is so much more academically elite, why is a felon able to get in at all?

If you put that you are a felon on most major college applications, you aren't likely to get in and have no chance at any funding or assistance.

So? They saw fit to let him in. It's not as hard as you say it is for an excon to get into college. I'm sure they had plenty of admissions staff who worked with Maurice, looked at his grades, classes he's taken in the slammer, and thought he deserved to be enrolled at tOSU again.

The Big Ten can still take their stance of superior academics, because they have superior academics.

So- you said he shouldn't be denied an education. That wasn't really countering what was said. What was said had to do with the Big 10 complaining about having a hard time getting people in because of their strong academics (which no one denied...) yet they found a way to get an ex-con in, which is surely more difficult than a C + high school recruit.

And I stand by my statement that it isn't easy for an ex con to get into a major public university.

I doubt anyone is going to rob him of anything if he is still sporting that Kevlar vest and armed with an AK-47.

This kid is a freaking nutball that I wouldn't want within a hundred miles of my campus.
