This team is really good. Final four good. I hope they don't get busted before the year is up. We can beat anybody.

I am far from an expert. There are plenty here on the board who can provide much better insight on this than I, but I'm inclined to say that I think we may have had teams with at least as much raw talent as this team, but there is a combination of things going on right now that may give this team an advantage over any of those previous teams, such as the successful implementation of the half court defensive strategy, a couple of players who are realizing their potential at the right time...and CONFIDENCE! It seems clear to me already that this team exudes confidence that I have not seen in another Vol team. The kind of confidence that holds onto leads. The kind of confidence that gets you deep into tournaments...I pray.

I think it's still just a wee bit early, but by the end of the season, barring injury or trouble, this team could prove to be the best Vol squad ever. Wow.

I had this thought yesterday watching the game as well ... a post season ban with a team this good would be a kick in the pants

I agree 100%. I am afraid almost that if we remain playing great especially through the 8 game suspension that the NCAA will say Slive didn't punish them enough. Therefore since the punishment can be handed out around february I feel they will say Cut this team out of tourney play. This on top of how long they are planning on suspending Bruce for next season too.

I am not on board with saying this is the best team we ever had just 7 games in, but we certainly proved we can compete with anybody, anywhere, anytime. A teams success is usually judged by what happens in march and we certainly have the ability with a little luck to do some damage.

I want to see this team win the SEC tournament so very bad.

Regarding the ban/penalty/ect, I thought they would receive the letter from the NCAA in January and then have 3 months to answer, then sometime after the answer comes the ruling. That would mean nothing the NCAA does will affect this team???

Correct, Andy Katz reported we should not have a ruling until April

We are safe this season. The university has 3 months to address the allegations from the NCAA. Hamilton doesn't expect to go before the committe until May/June.

This team has certainly made its statement about its coach.

What's the statement? As long as we win, we're behind BP? I don't think anyone has ever questioned Bruce Pearl's ability to coach, especially on game day. He's one of the best out there. However, even if UT keeps winning, it doesn't make Bruce Pearl not a liar.

Ok, and granted I know very little about this stuff, but does the NCAA not sometimes retro-punish? ala Memphis? Would there be any precedent for coming back later and taking away post season wins from us from this year in this case?

How many people actually think there is a chance for a ban this year?? Or ban next year for that matter. I for one don't think there is a chance for a ban this year. But after the sec suspension I can predict this thin about as well as I can predict the weather in march..

I seriously doubt they would punish current team with no postseason, given that the serious issues are with BP. If anything, they'd ban BP for the rest of the year or something. Can't take a team out of contention bc the coach lied, can you? That sucks if so. I think the Auburn, "Keep winning and pray like heck" method will do.

Every situation can be measured, Bruce lied about a secondary violation. What is that called secondary deceit? This would not have even been a secondary violation if the players had been seniors so what is the correct penalty, expulsion? I don't think so regardless of the mans won loss record. A violation was committed, a penalty has been handed down by his superiors. Why continue to go on and on about it? Lets play some basketball!

thats the good news. they cant touch us regarding this years team.

Lets go win the NC. since we may not be playing next year

We have not played any ineligible players so a ban for UT is not in the equation. Pearl will be put on probation
for a year or two and this whole "the sky is falling" thing
will be history. Pearl will hang many banners in the TBA
rafters.
