Maybe this is why Tennessee can't recruit in the SEC wars!

This is nothing new. Everyone cheats in college sports. Some are better than others at that game.

Not cheating until you get caught, and even then your punishment will be light, and then reduced later, for the "integrity" or history of the sport. Just ask Penn State (not cheating, but cheating aint worse than that)

Tennessee does it too except we offer them a Nissan Versa and an apartment overlooking the dumpsters behind the cafeteria.

"[Coach] Jones said, 'We need to make up a punishment if you miss another class,'"

Yeah, for the sake of appearances. He'd already qualified to play the second semester. The kid says "I'm good to go, don't need to go to class." The NCAA nor the coaches can force the kid to go to class.

The only way that changes is if the NBA changes their rule.

Simmons is correct but this is more an NBA issue than an NCAA issue. Now I understand they work together and probably came up with this rule to help CBB but sometimes it makes a mockery of college basketball.

The really crappy part is for every Ben Simmons there are 3-4 kids who would come out of HS and not even get drafted and then end up playing in the NBDL or overseas. Last year Duke got a kid out of LV who I bet woulda went straight to the NAB if he could and he was basically a role player at Duke and will be a sophomore.

I say change the rule, then the kid only has themselves to blame when they're listening to all the wrong people instead of those who aren't afraid to say they're not ready for the NBA.

"...then the players get nothing. They say education, but if I'm there for a year, I can't get much education."

And who's fault is it Ben that you chose to forgo the other 3 years of your education? Can't pull a 5 yr CD out of the bank after a month and then blame the bank for no ROI.
