Has he earned his real name back yet? Too soon?

He's pretty much hitting all shots right now. Surely, he's going to be challenged MUCH more later in the year but he looks good so far. :eek:k:

Even if we begin to call him "McBeefor3" agian, I'm still going to call him "McStache."

Yeah, that is too soon. Sorry dude. :bad:

Besides, Paterno had nothing to do directly with any of the victims. It's a terrible thing that happened to all those kids, their families, and IMO, Paterno as well (more sad than terrible, because I feel he should have been fired. But this is a different story from the thread, so I digress...)

I will hold out judgement until we get back from Maui.

One huge negative of being on Volnation is seeing how quickly we as fans make the failures of our own kids personal. McBee is a hometown kid that clearly has worked himself into a player at the University he grew up following. For the life of me I don't understand why he isn't a fan favorite. Maybe more of you will join me when I say I am proud that I am a big fan of him and very proud that he is a Volunteer!

I think McBee has earned his minutes this year. He hustles all the time. He knows his D isnt his strong suit, but he gives it hell......I can appreciate that.

I think he has always given superior effort. The problem was he didn't do what he was brought here to do, make the 3pt shot. Keeping my fingers crossed he has turned the corner with that because he is always going to give effort!

I agree that its too soon, but Paterno had everything to do with any victims that were molested after he found out and failed to take it to the authorities. Paterno knew, and did nothing to truly stop it.

I agree, but being a pure shooter is like being a golfer......When your ON, your ON.....when your NOT, your just not. All you can do is work to get back in rhythm. It's also like playing baseball and being in a slump. I understand it, but agree hes a shooter only.

Dude, quit the "hold hands and humm" stuff. It has nothing to do with where he's from. He IS a liability. Trust me, I could care less where a player is from or what color his skin is or anything like that. It's all about how he produces on the court and if he makes the team better. Good Lord. You people get so butt hurt when you speak the truth about a player...

But McBrick is slightly getting it. I'll hold off judgement until he faces tougher guard play and is put into some clutch situations. I'm liking everything I've seen so far so hopefully that stache does the trick :hi:

Point was: why so personal with the name calling? Its so childish. I can critique a player without being personal or childish. Learn from this: kenny Hall seems to be really struggling. We need him to be better if we are going to be a team that plays in any post season. I can then even discuss why he is not a successful player. All without saying anything personal! Its not hard to do if you want to be decent over trying to be funny.

It is a disgrace how "fans" trash our players. Criticizing performance is fair game, but the personal stuff and cheap shot name calling is classless. These kids come and play for Tennessee and they may not have the talent or experience to suit everybody, but they play hard and play up to their abilities.

No doubt. What's sad is these kids read some of this crap. I know they shouldn't but its human nature.

Listening to CCM, he's always very complimentary of McBee. Had positive things to say again tonight.

I was one of McBee's critics last year, but he is playing good ball right now. He has definitely earned his minutes on the court. So no bashing from me. So far he is getting only praise. His threes have be things of beauty! He deserves no bashing so far this year!

Just to add to the "stay decent when discussing players and their failures"; there is a mom of a current FB commit on her sons recruiting thread saving the quotes for her sons scrapbook. I didn't have the heart to tell her to please get off this site and never return to save her some tears down the road. We wonder why Arian Foster doesn't speak well of Vol fans. Nothing wrong with discussing what our kids need to do to get better but keep the name calling to yourself. There's no place for it!!!!

Ask CM if mcbee is just a shooter.
- he handles the ball when needed
- he can penetrate a little
- he can rebound and averaged more rebounds per minute played last year than Hopson or cam
- he is one of the only players capable of getting an angle and making a pass to the post.
- he'll be deadly at ft's if we need them
- he'll get his hands on some loose balls or deflections

He can't guard the other teams pg, but is put in that situation at times. A quick sg gives him trouble as well, but many times its skylar forcing his man the wrong way with a pick coming, or he turns his head and the guy bolts. It appears to me that his shot is smoother and he is more comfortable. We'll see what happens, but he looks more comfortable. I don't think some of you understand how hard it is to come off the bench, play limited minutes and hit shots like was expected last year. He needs 6-8 shots per game, not 2.

Those are some pretty big compliments for a player that has had very little success. I hope he keeps up the great play he deserves it . When BP brought him in was he projected as a player that could do all those things or just a guy that could be a shooter?

I don't see the ability to dribble, pass, and rebound a little as being big compliments. I'm just pointing out what cm sees, and little things that many casual observers of basketball may not see.
Most on here just focus on his missed shots and a pg blowing by him.
Fwiw, I watch the game off the ball, more than I do on it. That's why cam and hop wore me out. Mcrae is getting there quickly.
