Surprising to see than no UConn commits on the team--what's up with that?

They only signed one player and she is number 57 in the top 100. He is loading up in 2014 already has two commits number 7 and 8 and is in the top two for number one in that class.

The problem for them was getting #1, 2, and 6 last year. It's tough recruiting the following year because the incoming kids see themselves riding the bench behind the all stars.

All the UT Seniors graduating last year, is probably one of the reasons we got Graves & Carter this year. For the next couple of years, it will likely be difficult to get another big. Who would want to sit behind Mercedes.

The key for these tough recruiting years is to find people who aren't highly rated, but have a good up-side. Finding these mis-ranked people is the true test of a great coach. With all of the PR that goes on these days, with high profile clubs that do a lot of PR work promoting their players, there are opportunities to find the players who don't have the high powered publicists behind them.

Uconn only got one recruit for next year, a point guard ranked in the 70's named Saniya Chong. I never heard of her, so I looked her up. Impressive on paper. From New York. Gatorade State POY. Her team State Champs, 35 PPG, 9.3 assists, 5.3 Rebounds, 4.7 steals. It will be interesting to see if she is one of those overlooked stars, or a spectacular goof by Geno.

Simmons and Kamiko weren't ranked as high as you would think and Jones seems like a steal in the last class. SO it seems like we have been a decent job finding diamonds in the rough.

We have room for several more highly ranked players as well.

2014 is a big year for us as we'll try to get a top point guard in that class. Kelsey Mitchell, Bianca Cuevas, and Mikayla Venson are our top prospects. We will be trying for post players as well Jatari White is who we really want she has a long list. I don't think we sign but three and one will be a top rated point guard. Reynolds will back up Simmons next season and then two guard will be her spot.

Looking forward to this game today haven't seen Jordan Reynolds play. I have seen Russell in the USA competitions.

Watching the game. Some very impressive players. Scaife looks really good.

Jordan Reynolds looks fast and athletic. Russell has decent handles but appears a bit slow. Needs to eat hot dogs and doughnuts. That put pounds on me.

Dang, Jordan Reynolds with two long threes. She looks taller than I expected.

Mercedes Russell MVP 16 and 12 with 3 blocks. Reynolds 10 points and 11 rebounds she looks quick with a good stroke. I know Tucker is awesome seen her play with USA. This is an awesome class.

Kamiko wasn't ranked high because her family moved a lot, was in some foregin country for her fathers military service as well I think.

UT doesn't need to find diamonds in the rough. Nearly all our players are top 50 in the country, even top 30. But not all top recruits have the skills, athleticism AND attitude needed to produce for a national title contender. A lot of top prospects turn out to be busts or only average players. And so talent evaluation is key. UT signed a lot of top guard prospects over the last 10 years who turned out to be mediocre at best. Shooting guards with not enough athleticism, for example. We must get better guards--and better coaching.

You make it sound so easy to determine how a guard (or any other player) will develop. How does it feel to think you know it all?

with slow, somewhat unathletic players, and we've had a few in recent years--especially at shooting guard.
