tennessee all-sec guard jordan mcrae has been in a walking boot tuesday, but team trainers said that's just a 'precautionary' treatment for the star's sore toe.

Pretty common for guys with an injury like that or to their ankle to be in a boot. Just precautionary to prevent them from the aggravating it further and turning it into a serious injury.

I'm guessing he will be fine Wednesday.

Well I certainly hope it's just precautionary because the last thing we need is for him to be hurt bad or out a game.

D1 coaches make tremendous salaries so its hard to be sympathetic, but it would suck to have your future employment riding on the health of a couple of different players - one of which is in a walking boot.

Of all the people to bash, I think McRae would be my last choice. That's just me though.

first i will apologize i was just poking fun at our team. i hate us losing too but dont take so seriously. i read that is was not serious before i posted about the brick. or would it been ok to ask if maymon dropped a brick on it

No need to apologize on my account. I was just sharing my opinion. :hi:

The coaches say it isn't serious and hopefully that is accurate, but McRae wearing a boot for any reason makes me nervous.

McRae practiced today, he's fine.

I don't think you wear a boot unless there's some cause for concern, so I don't know that I agree he is "fine". It may turn out to be nothing, but worth keeping an eye on IMO.

Keep in mind, Hubbs shoulder wasn't an issue either, until it was.

Hubbs shoulder has been an issue since he stepped on campus, not sure what you're referring to?

If McRae was hurt he wouldn't be practicing, it was strictly a precautionary thing. His toe may have gotten hurt, and they had him in a boot to prevent some doofus on campus from stepping on it. I've heard of coaches putting a running back in a boot who has nothing wrong, just has a tendency to turn his ankle and is being cautious.

For tendonitis more than likely. They do it try to not move the joint and keep it stable in a boot and prevent movement and irritation and give it some rest.

And no coach is going to put an rb in a boot to walk around campus because he may sprain his ankle on a curb. Maybe he has a sprain, but not because he may get one. That's silly.

I seem to remember Martin playing off the shoulder injury as no big deal. One day he's playing, and the next he's having surgery and the season is over. The point being, we don't always get the full story.

And players practice hurt all the time.

The staff says it's precautionary so it probably is, but even if it were something concerning, they would not say that at this point. It's probably nothing.

And whatever this toe issue, it was enough to keep McRae out of practice yesterday. But since he is now practicing, he's probably good to go, like BTO said.

But if he plays horribly tomorrow, I'm digging this thread up. :)
