'25 MD DL Darrion Smith (Tennessee commit)

Good question. What are the benefits of scholarship vs walk on?
Scholarships cover tuition, housing, food, course related books, etc. Walk on you’re stuck covering all that yourself. If you have an NIL deal of course you could cover those expenses with it.

I'm kind of shocked this isn't happening a lot with the top players. During the Bull's run, Jordan didn't push for top salary. He wanted to make sure the Bulls could surround him with great talent knowing that his endorsements et al would more than make up the difference.

If you are making say... $8 million on NIL why not be a walk-on so the program can sign more OLs or other positions that don't command big NIL?

Tennessee commit Darrion Smith sounds like he will visit Miami later in the month. He has been taking visits over the last few months since he committed to Tennessee back in July. Auburn has been a team that has had him on campus and now the Hurricanes are poised to do so as well. This one has always been one that felt like could be on shaky ground so we will see what transpires down the stretch.

Auburn is pushing hard to flip Darrion Smith from Tennessee. Baltimore St. Frances Academy already has three prospects committed to the Tigers and the staff is working to add Smith to that list. He has yet to visit the Plains, but if the visit goes well, Auburn feels they have a great shot at flipping Smith. He talks with the staff daily and there is a battle brewing between the Tigers and the Vols.
