Simeon Coleman played this past season under the national spotlight as a part of the storied St. Frances Academy (Maryland) football program. With all eyes on him and his team, Coleman's list of offers have more than doubled since making that move.
That list now includes Tennessee, which offered him while on a visit for the Vols' Junior Day on the weekend of January 14.
The visit to Knoxville was the only trip Coleman was able to make this January – and it left a major impression.
"The visit was good," Coleman told VolReport. "What stood out to me was the fans at the basketball game, along with the love the coaches and the fans showed."
Defensive coordinator Tim Banks and inside linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary are leading the push for the talented linebacker. Their records of developing players have left an impression.
"Tim Banks and Brian Jean-Mary are my primary recruiters," Coleman said. "Their football background and the former players that they have coached stood out. It showed me that they develop great football players."
Shortly after his trip to Knoxville, Coleman put out a top schools list consisting of 10 programs. Of those schools, Coleman has his eyes set on spring visits to Maryland, Tennessee and Cincinnati. Following an offer from the new staff, he will make his way down to visit Auburn as well.
- VolReport (Rivals)Coleman is still going through the recruitment process but has an idea of when he wants to have it wrapped up.
"My timeline for a decision is around July to August," he said.
While he doesn't plan on reaching a decision until late this summer, he knows what he will look for among potential college options.
"I'll be looking for somewhere where I will get developed into the best player I can be and somewhere with a good history of NFL players," Coleman said.
Coleman is ready to put the work in to potentially develop into an NFL player himself.
"I'm bringing a hard worker with a great work ethic wherever I go," he said.
As for Tennessee, the Vols will be right there in the mix for the length of his recruitment.
"Tennessee, Auburn, Cincinnati and Maryland are standing out so far," Coleman confirmed to VolReport.
