Anyone notice in the pressers yesterday Kirby Smart looked and acted like his family pet had just been euthanized. It gave the vibe of Saban and the Tide coming into Neyland - "come on guys, get excited! why aren't you jumping around?" Seriously, Kirby was reaching out to the fans (and also on Twitter) to bring energy, excitement, and noise. You have to ask the fans to participate?

Meanwhile, Coach Heupel is looking like Ted Lasso: "I haven't convinced them they can win these games. They've convinced themselves."

Hollywood is having the script handed to them.

Coaches are terrified of Tennessee's unstoppable offense

Kirby was asked about the game and the significance of #1 vs #2 in AP and he said “is that the rankings? I haven’t even looked. This is a big game because it’s a SEC East game”

Huepel doesn’t act dumb to the circumstances. He embraces them and then uses them to hone the focus.

Very different cultures. Tennessee has some juice

Even the fans are. I have extended family in Atlanta - all Georgia alums. A handful of them have text me this week saying they are nervous and dont want to play us. Last night text "I am seriously afraid to play your team... they look so good"
Same. At first my buddies were talking crap. One ended his text last night by saying, "if I am being honest, I don't have a good feeling about this game".

The rest of them are currently pretending I dont exist. After the CFP poll was released last night, the CFB group chat went dead silent.

Don’t fall for the coach speak.

Kirby Smart knows exactly what’s on the line. Georgia won the College national championship game last year.

We had posters thumping their chest when nick saban said dooley and fcs Pruitt were doing good jobs at Tennessee. It’s coach speak.

Georgia will be ready to play Saturday. Their fans will be ready.

Yep. I've gotten the same vibe from a few of my misguided pals who are fans of the pudgy canines...they're already hedging or going radio silent. In years past, they'd be blowing up the group messaging and pontificating about how many points the leghumpers were going to hang on us. Not this year.

pressure on UGA

We are on house money in year 2. They are the defending champs and playing at home. Hell we could lose and still get in by the time this all unfolds. They are the ones almost 80th in SOS.

It’s like when Saban pretended he didn’t even know there was an election in 2016. I get that it wasn’t football related and he should dismiss the question but to pretend you didn’t even know it was an election year was just ridiculous.

Exactly. Worst case scenario, we end up in a NY6 bowl with at least 11 wins and Heup for the future for the first time in two decades.

The pressure is on them.

I think this is being under played. Think about the disrespect for the defending champs. Conversely, think about the pressure from having to rise up with all new guys all over the defense. That team knows the dudes that won are not there.

Think both sides will be ready. I could see either team get out early, but both teams also have the ability to climb back in even if get down by a couple of scores. To me, the key for us is our OL...if OL plays like Bama game, and we continue to limit turnovers, we win.

Of course both teams will be ready.

I believe we win.

I think some of this fan base is delusional. Kirby Smart did not win a national championship last year by being an idiot. He has assembled great recruiting classes and has a very good staff.

I know it’s new for most of our fan base, but Smart has coached in big games before. He has coached in 1 vs 2 match ups. Smart isn’t going to come out in a news conference and say something stupid. everything he is saying is coach speak and our fan base is trying to dissect every word he says and make it sound like he is afraid or the moment is too big for him.

The point I’m trying to make is don’t let Smart live rent free in your head.

I believe he knows it matters more. But trying to act ignorant is indicative of a culture concerned with distractions or pressure. Like his kids can’t handle it.

Huepel embraces it. Acknowledges it. Knows where they are. Know the damn well deserve it. It’s a reward for effort. Performance. Process to get there.

Downplaying it is an insult. Doesn’t allow kids to get excited. Muted enthusiasm. Builds nerves. It doesn’t become a reward. It becomes a punishment.

Kirby dumb.

So what you are saying is Georgia will come out flat with no energy?
