yeah, cause you know that minor league hockey has always been big in East Tennessee. Im not sure whats worse...listening to them talk to the Knoxville Ice Bears coach for an hour or listening to 990AM broadcast an entire Tennessee Smokies game. Ugh.

I should open up a radio stattion and interview the UT womens diving coach a couple of days a week, a UT sociology proffessor on tuesdays and Arian Foster to give traffic reports in Pterodactyl every day.

Before CBP, the Ice Bears had better attendance than the men's basketball team. I don't think they should spend an hour on it, but there are people in Knoxville that care about minor league hockey.

is that why they regularly average 3500+ (give or take) on a regular basis to watch bad hockey in a run down building on a rink about 2/3 the size of a regulation frozen pond?

or maybe that's why they have corporate logos plastered all over their jerseys?

last i checked, hockey is a sport and the folks on 99.1 are in the business of talking about sports.

Apparently you're not from around here because hockey has been in Knoxville since the 60's. The Knights, Cherokees, Speed and now Ice Bears. And you know what is worse than listening to the KIB coach for an hour? Listening to the police blog for the latest UT player arrested for DUI, failing on their responsibilities, shooting off guns or waiving them at cops... whens the last time you heard a KIB player go that route? Although this is a close second to the call-in show Im sure you frequent with brillient insight on Josh McNeil's jockstrap.

And for the record I am a HUGE vol fan. Ignorance and tunnel vision simply piss me off.

I prefer minor league hockey to the NHL and I also prefer minor league baseball to MLB. You can take the whole family to the game AND have snacks for about the price of one ticket to a NHL or MLB game. Hell we went to a bunch of Smokies games when I lived out there. Very cheap family entertainment. And for the record, I was getting laid every night.

I have a suggestion. Instead of being a douche, actually say something constructive. Hockey is an awesome sport, and I'm terribly sorry if you don't have the mental appreciation to watch it, change the dial or station, and stop talking trash about it.
