This is a thread I felt appropriate for the day. I had an uncle who served in Vietnam from 66'-67'....196th lt inf brigade. He won a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart posthumously, in a place called Quang Ngai province. I recall as a kid us sending him care packages with everything from pre sweetened kool aid to toilet paper. Id like to thank my uncle and remember him for being brave and honorable, serving his country with distinction when it called.

My uncle by marriage served two terms of duty in Vietnam and is retired from the military. I'd like to use this space to thank him and all others like him for all the sacrifices.

Thanks Unk.

My dad served in the Combat Engineers in WWII and went through some "stuff" in Europe, especially Germany.

Here's to him, my hero, and all the others who served throughout the history of our country. Additionally, here's to those who are presently making the sacrifices to see that we remain free and the greatest nation on the planet.

God bless every single one of you, past and present!

I would just like to reiterate what Surreal said and wish everyone a safe Memorial Day. Here is a pic of Surreal's father and my grandfather overseas during WWII. Just thought it was a great pic and thought I would share it with all of you.

There is a lot that the common public doesn't know nor should want to know that goes daily in Iraq.

All i could add to any of that is, all that have been mentioned did it for their country. But also for the men and women right beside them.
As bad as things are in the world we live in these days, They find strength in each other.
Im so happy to support our troops not protest! Our loved one's didnt start or even understand this, Far cry from yr's past, when a soldier came home to be spit on. For all of my "NAM" friends and fam, I hold a very special place in my heart for you all! Again bless all vets current and future and the loved one's they leave behind. And always remember our MIA/POW's. You are not forgotten
