Before I head off for my nice long weekend of trout fishing and hanging out having fun at my friends lake house I would earnestly like everyone to take even a moment to consider what Memorial Day is about. I don't give a rat's rectum what you think of this or any administrations use of the armed forces. Memorial Day is not about Presidents or Congressman or the IRS or any other political position, institution or ideology. It's about soldiers jumping out of planes over enemy territory, flying missions through flak/sams or hitting the sand on some far away beach. These are individuals...and on this day we are talking about the ones that don't come home. I especially want to give a quick take on the current armed forces. The people fighting, being wounded or even dying right now are doing it for they're country... for us. This is true whether you believe they SHOULD be doing so or not. That is they're mission and they are carrying it out. Do not forget them just because you have a beef with the policies or people that put them there.

Memorial Day is a time when we remember those who gave all and all those wh gave some. Pray for those who are serving now & especially those serving overseas and in Iraq and that they can make it back home safe to their families.
My dad served in WW II on a carrier in the Pacific. I served just over 21 years in the AF -even though behind a desk. My job was in Contracting/Purchasing which was very important. I even had to buy the "special" paint for the C-5 aircraft.
To all those who have served and currently serving, I salute you and thank you for your service.

I have a special place for them in my life.

I have several college friends and acquaintances who have given their ultimate for this land and their belief in our freedom experiment. Memorial Day is a celebration of their lives for me.

A bank was open on Memorial Day? How can they conduct business when the Fed. is closed?
