Update on coaching search | True Blue Tigers

We are now in serious talks with Avery Johnson. Not preliminary, not inquiry. Serious. It may or may not happen, because these things are always touchy and complicated, but we are making a hard run at him now. The good guys are determined to make this work, if there is any way at all.
The main objective is to get the best coach available who wants to be here. The next objective is to get the deal done with the next coach by Wednesday or Thursday, if possible, so he is in place before the national signing period starts.

Hat,
haven't seen your comments on this, but what are your thoughts on hiring Reggie Theus at this point?

I think Theus or Johnson would do well, but there's a problem. NBA guys are NBA guys. The first good opportunity to get back in the League and they're gone.

An NBA guy would be good PR hire after being turned down by (gulp) Baylor's head coach. How embarassing.
