I bet traffic is backed up to Jackson ?
About to find out. Its BBQ fest weekend so Riverside is closed off (Riverside connects to 40 and 55) and they stupidly put in some excessive speed bumps on Riverside as well
Edit - Not too bad. Backed up to 101 connector. If you need to get downtown, just get off on Madison exit. A question for TDOT - why are there so many potholes around 40/101 in Memphis - its not like that in Nashville. Second, the Madison Avenue trolley extension has to be the biggest waste of $$$ ever. From my vantage point, 55 bridge is moving but slow. Will expect it to really back up once you get more big trucks out.
I honestly think that the general disdain for Memphis from people in middle and east TN plays into decisions made by state authorities on how to allocate funds for repairs like this.About to find out. I thought it was just cracked.Pardon the pun but the relationship between TDOT and Shelby County officials is fractured. The inability to maintain interstates in Shelby County, projects with cut corners (I40-240 connection; 240-55 connection), projects that run 20 years behind schedule (385), and the failure of the state to do I-69 and I-22 work leads to this distrust. Projects like this keep getting put on the back burner while those in Middle and East TN aren't.
I’ve heard two different 911 calls made by the engineers to Memphis dispatch about immediately stopping traffic from driving on the bridge. Quite comical. Makes sense that the dispatchers were confused and had to ask for explanations. It’s not an everyday call, and the engineers were using acronyms and technical terms to describe the fracture.

Interesting I'd assumed that things like this would have been coordinated through TDOT.I’ve heard two different 911 calls made by the engineers to Memphis dispatch about immediately stopping traffic from driving on the bridge.
