Greg Gaston just reported it. Not sure of the validity though.

Really thought that they would go after Mark Few at Gonzaga. I was surprised Capel didn't land at Virginia, back in the ACC.

I live in VA and I don't understand why UVA can't land a winner. They have PLENTY of money, beautiful campus, great academics, and they're in the ACC. If I was a confident up and coming coach I would love the opportunity. But it's like they just don't get it there. Their fans are so used to mediocrity. They seem to consistently be the one team in the ACC that never improves. Which is fine, I live in VA and hate the Cavaliers.

UVA decided to pump all their resources into soccer and lacrosse. I'm curious to see this new cat they hired for b-ball, he seems better suited for big-10 than acc.

I think Capel would be a good fit for Arizona, alot more expectations at Arizona than there is at OU.

EPSN just reported he is the top candidate for the 'zona job. I figure he is just killing time until coach K retires at Duke then he is headed to Duke.

Capel will never coach at Duke. He is not a disciple of K and was part of the worst Duke team of the past 30 years. He should take the AZ job. Won't ever get better than that for him.

Arizona is on the top 10-15 coaching jobs in the college game so I can't see why you want to disparage that job. Most coaches would give their left arm to take over a program that has been as successful as AZ.

Wasn't disparaging the AZ job at all. It's an incredible job. In fact, I think it's such a good job that Capel will never be able to do better that that. Sort of like Calipari will never do better than KY. It's a good thing.

Did I say anything about those coaches? btw, Dino Guadio will be lucky to have a job if he doesn't improve his team in the next year. I think Purnell will be fine.

Back to Bennett: The UVa fans are very unhappy about this hire. Do you think they're wrong?

I'm certain they're wrong. They just hired a guy Indiana valued more than Tom Crean and LSU valued more than Trent Johnson. Exactly who did they think they were going to hire?

Most wanted Tubby Smith. Bennett just seems like a weird hire if that makes any sense.

Oh, if you would have asked me to make a list of 100 people UVA might hire, Bennett wouldn't have been on it. That doesn't mean it's not the right move.

Spot on. True in football as well. They've never been able to make the leap. I have trouble hating mediocre teams, but I'm certain I would hate them if they ever got good.
