In October for their players.

Guess this will be the norm now? If the NCAA had any kahoonas left they will ban this

The draft is in July. Why would a school have a pre draft event before the season? Players could get hurt or look awful. Your goal is to improve during the season. I don’t get the point.

"Kahoonas"?

You are just gellus they have the number one class again twice in three years. Part of Penny's job is to prepare kids for the future whether that be for the workforce most of us enjoy or a career in the NBA. If Tennessee could attract this level of talent you'd see similar activity in Knoxville.

Anyhow, see you December 18!

Sneaky recruiting tactic is all
I guess that’s my question how would this really help recruiting? If a player shows out in this NBA pre draft event and then averages 5 points a game not sure how the pre draft event helps him. I just feel like it’s much to do about nothing. Let Penny play games and then watch him fold when the real games are played.

You got to look at it in the context of a 17 yo kid who has no plan to do anything except play basketball for a living. Penny was a perennial NBA All-Star Hall of Famer with a bagillion dollar shoe contract that pays him millions to this day (the only OTHER shoe Michael Jordan ever wore was Penny's). He is correctly seen as someone who has command of his environment to such extent that he can coordinate such an event with continued sway with NBA executives.

You are correct about the 5 point average comment...but the probability that either of these 2 for whom the NBA event was arranged averages less than 5 points per quarter is remote as best.

I wouldn't let this live in our heads. We got enough to worry about with football.
Nothing is living in my head. Just stating facts . Takes about a half second to recognize that a staff with Larry Brown, Penny and now Sheed might’ve “bent” the rules on occasion . And when I say on occasion, I mean Larry Brown has had sanctions brought against UCLA, Kansas and SMU after he was the head coach.

College baseball and football teams have been doing this for years....why is it such a deal with MBB? Everyone needs to do it.

Probation follows Larry Brown like night follows day....

Nah. Lil' Penny will keep him straight. Probably the most principled and honest coach in sports.

Having the opportunity to show NBA scouts what you can do is always a positive. No matter what the calendar says.
