Would this have still happened had they managed to win the championship game?

I'm seriously asking opinions, because I am not sure.

Our win stands, though? So their dream season becomes an 0-2 season? Wonderful. (0-1 considering the Tournament will be stripped as well)

This would have been tougher on the AA. They very muc like riding roughshod over programs who won't fight hard.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Report: Memphis to vacate Final Four season - College Basketball - Rivals.com

My favorite part is that "The coach [Calimari] has not been deemed “at risk” by the NCAA," yet two of the schools he has coached at have had to vacate wins and trips to the final four. But he's not at risk. Yeah, okay. I guess it's only a matter of time until it happens at Kentucky.

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread.

The question around town today is how the Darrell Arthur situation at Kansas and the Rose deal at Memphis are different.

Forfeiting an entire future season won't do nice things to KY's quest to stay ahead of UNC in the precious all-time wins list.

I'm sure KY fans keep telling themselves that Cal has truly never known anything about what happened at either school.

People can fight all they want and say that Cal is clean...but lightning doesn't strike twice.

Like someone said above, Cal now has both of his FF's vacated along with an entire season. Cleared of wrongdoing or not, Cal is officially slimy (and yes I know he was before).

I've heard the wiser Kentucky fans worry quite a bit about something like this happening to their program.

Me? I'd take the risk with Calipari every day of the week.

Why?????

I know the reality of college athletics is to win, make money, and be relevant.....but the TRUE facts are to mentor students, do the right things, and have some class in the process. I know that all of BIG time college football and basketball is crooked...I get it, but SOME class and dignity are needed??? Correct?

I would rather win 19-22 games a year and get beat in the 2nd round than have a coach cheat and have Final 4's vacated and leave a negitive impression on the program I follow and support. JMO!!!

I am a college coach...and will never cheat just to win.

The absence of posts on this topic from a prolific VN poster is deafening.

Three years probation too. They also had issues with the women's golf program.

The only important portion of that report to me is the exoneration of John Calipari. The fact that Memphis chose to cower before the 'AA instead of fight doesn't matter to me. I just can't wait til RC tries to hit up the guys off that squad for money. They'll get the same reaction UC did when they tried to panhandle Kenyon Martin after hanging Huggs out to dry.

Who cares? We beat them that year.

Would you care if it was Bruce Pearl or the team your son played for????

If yes......you should care. It (college athletics) is (should be) about molding kids to be quality adults.

I know the reality......but that reality is wrong.
