Russell came out of the gate strong and was instrumental in Tennessee's early lead.

She had a career-high 25 points on 12-16 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds. She was simply a beast last night.

Great, great game from her.

Russell was freakishly good, don't stop it, it feels real good.

Was it the light suddenly coming on or was it the lack of defense to stop her? I hope it is new motivation, but guess we will see. Unfortunately, Syracuse scouted her and will probably double and triple team her to force outside shooting and that is where the LVs have problems. Hopefully we will be watching LVs next weekend in the Final Four.

OSU had no one with size to stop her. OSU went zone at the beginning, which makes sense, except Tennessee moved the ball and shot OSU out of the zone. Who would ever have thought that would happen?? So it was a combination of OSU having no size and Tennessee's perimeter players making the right passes at the right time. The timing was the best it has been all season.

It was good to see her fired up and playing strong. Playing tough had more to do with her success than any fault of OSU's game plan.

I have been very happy seeing her play more aggressively. Now, if she could get down the court faster...

I have to apologize to Mercedes Russell. I've been very hard on her all season long. Some of it due so but she's really stepping it up & showing the top recruit status when she signed with the Lady Vols. She should dominate & she certainly is starting to do that now.

Arizona State and Ohio State both extended defense way out on the perimeter and tried to pressure is, all the way out to half court at times. That certainly helped a lot
Both coaches should be slapped with coaching malpracrice. Any team that does not sit back in a contain flat line zone defense is doing is a huge favor. We should send thank you cats to both those coaches. Next game we will see a packed in zone defense. I think our defense will win this next game for us.

She was phenomenal. She was posting hard every play and making herself an option every time down the floor. I'm sure she's been told she needs to be more aggressive and not shy away from contact all year long, but yesterday it finally clicked. Hopefully it'll be a turn of things to come-she has great touch around the basket and is more than capable of averaging 17/10 next year if she brings the aggressive mentality from day 1.

I appreciate Mercedes stepping up. She can't stop now though. She is going to have to keep up the hard work and battle in the paint. And most of all ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!
