My son is playing in a Perfect Game tournament in Marietta this week and he and I happened to run into Inky Johnson at the ballpark. I’m a nobody but when I saw him I couldn’t resist the chance to meet him and let my son see a legend up close and personal. Inky was one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met in that brief encounter. I’m just such a fan of his. That’s all, feel free to share your own Inky stories

if you've not read his book, strongly recommend you get it and read it. A truly inspiring story. I've heard Inky speak more than once and he is a great young man. Met his mother at one engagement (we ate at the same table along with Inky) and she is a saint. She is a big reason Inky is who he is.

First met Inky the summer before his injury....

I was Also at that game and didn’t realize how seriously hem was injured. Few people realize how close he was to losing hid life. The World is a better place because of him.
yep was about 50 yards from him when it happened. His faith is the source of his strength. Not faith in himself, but the One who created him.

I met him a year or two ago after an event where he spoke at my daughter’s school. I was wearing Tennessee gear so it was an easy conversation starter. He was great, exactly what you’d expect.

I don't think he would classify himself as such. He probably would say something like an individual given a platform to inspire and encourage others in a right direction.
I met him at a United Way function. We rode up the elevator together. I had no idea who he was -- then it turned out that he was the guest of honor. Afterwards I told him that I had no idea that I was standing next to greatness.

I still remember the hard tackle he put on that big Notre Dame receiver. BANG.

I hope to shake his hand, some day.

Certainly not for anything he did on the field. I was at the AF game too. I also remember him being a pretty average DB who frustrated many of us on this board at the time.

With that said, he is an excellent motivational speaker.

I was at that game as well, and I remember a teammate helping wave his “dead” arm around - Inky couldn’t move it himself ….at least that’s what I think I remember !
