Tennessee quietly extended an offer to four-star athlete
Dillon Tatum of West Bloomfield (Mich.) High School on Aug. 1, the first day college coaches were allowed to send written offers to prospects in the 2022 class. He might be a relatively new name on the Vols’ board, but sources close to his recruitment believe Tennessee already is a legitimate contender for him as he nears a decision. Michigan State and Michigan also are believed to be in the running for the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Tatum, who’s being recruited by most teams as a projected defensive back.
Tatum has been to Tennessee’s campus in the past, and he said last week that he might set up an official visit to Knoxville for this fall. Sources said Michigan State appeared to be trending with him before his offer from the Vols, but Tennessee shouldn’t be written off a possibility, even if he follows through on his recent comments indicating that he could announce a decision by the end of the month.
