On one hand, it doesnt surprise me the UM thugs did something like this
On the other, our own Pride had urine bottle thrown at them in Gainesville by their classy fans so what goes around comes around
Sucks to be you, UF band but oh well
Ok...
Go to YouTube and do a search on “Miami Hurricanes fan fights” and you’ll have no shortage of viewing options.
(For the record, I did a search of “Florida Gators fan fights” and came up with a Waffle House fight in Nashville following one of our our games...yay violence)
Miami is the only fan base where I try to avoid completely any interaction or eye contact whatsoever. It would be so easy to get into any sort of confrontation, so you just completely avoid interaction.
I’m not surprised at this news, and personally, I’m glad we don’t play them every year. You get the anecdotal stories about certain SEC fan bases being rough or rude, but worrying about yourself or your family getting physically attacked by bands of thugs is a whole different level of ugly.
I worked security for them for years and never had any problems like that...There are always some in the bunch like any fanbase that are bad eggs...Floridas fanbase is LOADED with them...Gainesville is the only place in the SEC that I've been to and I've been there many times that I almost get into a fight while I'm there and I've been to night games at LSU before and in Athens as well and they are a close 2nd in the asshat fanbase category.I was at the game. I had nice interactions with several Miami fans; however, my overall impression of their fan base there was very negative and reinforced my perception that the bulk of their fans did not in fact go to school there. I think a lot of them did not even graduate high school.
As we walked in, two drunk Miami fans, travelling separately, just about passed out right next to us. One was simply incoherent. A few seats down from us were several male fans who looked to me like they were part of Al Qaeda. The 305 turn over chain thing, whenever that was shown on the monitors, there was a near riot caused by Miami fans just loosing their minds over it.
No way would I ever go to one of their games down there.
I'm not condoning UMs behavior but too call them out for their antics while acting as if the gator nation reputation is flawless is a stretch.
