Miami fills HC vacancy in 12 hours

Would you like to hire from within for our OC job? Didn't think so.
Diaz had took the Temple job already, not sure we could pull it off. It seems to be a popular move on their boards right now, ESD and these new transfer rules releasing players from their LOI when the HC leaves are really changing the equation for hiring timing for a lot of schools.

Yes, VN would be ecstatic if we hired our DC hours after a beat down in a middling bowl.

Booms everywhere.

Well, they must think very highly of Diaz. I'm not sure why.
Over the years he's been a pretty good DC, players like him, defense has been the strength of Miami while he's been there, not Richt's offense. Yeah, they got blown out in the bowl but their offense gave them zero help, and Diaz had been mostly recruiting for Temple in the lead up. Anyway, my point was not that it was a good or bad hire, just that it was executed quickly and efficiently, given the same exact circumstances, I don't think Hamilton, Hart, et al, could have pulled it off.

But why would they need to hire Diaz quickly? He would be available a month from now. Why not go thru all your progressions...

He had accepted the head coaching job at Temple already. They knew everything they were going to about Diaz. If they wanted him they needed to move quickly, so he could let them know and not leave them in the lurch a week before signing day. Not everyone has Kiffin morals.

Not even 24 hours after Richt retires??? Was this guy their OC?? This is baffling. Miami gonna lose recruits in a bad way and they will go 5-7 next year...

their DC...initially hired at Temple, but Miami wants him apparently, so, Temple gets a few bucks out of the deal...you could be right about losing some recruits...we'll see...and,

GO VOLS...RECRUIT LIKE HECK!

We hired Dooley pretty fast. Those were the days!
We were desperate...Big mistake....Not to mention we were turned down by every coach we interviewed before the Kiffin hire so we didn't have much choice...Nobody and I mean NOBODY screws up coaching searches like Tennessee.

Who’s to say that Richt didn’t let his AD know a month ago that he was leaving? Or that they were going to get rid of him? They could have had this all worked out already.

nm, idiotic post retracted

They could have, but they definitely didn't.
