Saw it last night. Interested to see what people thought.

Big guns. Sweet cars. Sweet boats.

That's about all my $8.50 bought me.

I'm one of the all time biggest fans of the TV show. The movie had a lot to live up to for me. It fell well short. It was essentially two storylines from the TV show thrown into a blender and set twenty years later. Not terrible, but not very good. An absolute lack of back story on the characters. It was as if Michael Mann just assumed everyone knew Sonny and Rico and was in on the update. Also, Gong Li is the most overrated thing to hit America since Oasis. She's not really hot and has the acting range of a fence post.

I also enjoyed the original series and agree that there was virtually no character development in the movie. The storyline was fragmented and trite. I really found myself "looking at" the movie, instead of watching it.

If you want to enjoy the digital sound in your newest theater (I was at Pinnacle 18 in Turkey Creek), I guess Vice works as cheap entertainment. As for plot and acting, the movie is inconsequential at best.

Just throwing my two cents in here: In your opinions, what was the last action movie that actually had a more than decent plot and good actors?

I would have to go all the way back to 1989 with Batman.

Depends on one's definition of an action movie. Heat and Collateral were both very good. Braveheart and Gladiator were quality fiilms as well.

Heat is easily one of the greatest films of all time. Collateral was good as well. I guess in my mind, I had those two films in suspense, while the latter as war/historical movies.

no character development at all, Jamie Foxx was barely in it and there wasnt any action until about 2 hrs into it. I think if it was 30-45 minutes shoter it would have been great but i only thought it was ok.

Two hours into it? How long is this movie?

I thought about going to see it since I enjoyed Collateral so much. With Mann and Foxx also starring, I thought it could be pretty good or worst case scenario, worth a viewing.

It was better than I expected, and better than most action movies these days, which for me, isn't saying much. I dislike most action movies, but I didn't hate nor dislike MV.

You can expect some of the same grainy photography from Mann during some parts, and that's partly why I didn't hate it.

Exactly. That's why I say "inconseqential." Definitely didn't live up to the hype, nor the original series.

I'm glad to get some opinions on this before I check it out for myself. I'm a huge fan of the original, and I wasn't sure Colin could pull off Sonny Crockett.

I also enjoyed the Kill Bill series, Hero, The Bourne Identity, and National Treasure(thought it wasn't as spectacular). I see about two movies a week, and Miami Vice will not make the playlist. I was also a huge MV fan growing up, and found myself turned off by the previews.

Just saw it. Guns, cars, action, chicks and music...what more could you want? Oh yeah, someone better to play Crockett
