Michigan Crybaby Poll (currently at 83%)

I was at a bar here in SC last night and a Michigan guy was sitting near me. He started whining about the BCS and that the "two best teams" aren't in the championship game. I wanted to beat my head on a wall.

Greetings Michigan fans! Welcome to Auburn, circa 2004

Michigan fans are going to look awfully silly for whining about this when they go out to Pasadena and lose in the Rose Bowl. As Tennessee fans know, bitching about the bowl you're in and how much you got robbed is not exactly a recipe for success.

The debate is meaningless at this point. I wish we had a playoff system and I would accept wherever the Gators fell in that system. But we don't. So as a Michigan fan or a Boise State fan or whatever, you sort of have to accept where you fall in the current system.

If you don't like where you are, the solution is not to complain about it, but to promote and advocate a playoff system.

I'm glad it happend to a Big 2 little 9 confrence. Now maybe we can see some change. I hope OUS drills and I mean DRILLS UF and Mich DRILLS USC so in the off season the hear for a playoff will be stronger. Plus, I just like to see UF lose. :)

It would be cool if there were a playoff system. That way you could get the the four teams that were in the running for the national championship to play each other. If only there were some way we could get Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, and USC to play each other. I just can't think of a way.

The College football system is just too splintered to have a BCS system that will work every year. Different conferences playing different opponents who may or may not have scheduled competitive games outside of their conference or just have a weak conference. In many cases it is comparing apples and oranges across the country.

Most years with the BCS we will get this year's result, uncertainty. The uncertainty of who is 2nd and 3rd will be argued by different parts of the country. The debates and discussions will be weighted by sports reporters, computers and fans. Hence, happy Gator fans and Michigan fans who believe they were shot by the guy on the grassy nole.

Then there are those who would argue playoffs would kill the purity of college football. Right now college football championships are decided a few informed sports writers, by public opinion in the media (which may or may not be right depending on which team) and the BCS alliance. There is nothing pure about that.

Playoffs would cure some of these issues but come with its own set of issues. Appears though it would be another step in the right direction.

Las Vegas has already killed the purity of college football.

I'm more in favor of a +1 system involving the top 4 teams. That way there's only 1 additional game. Of course, the #5 team will be in a constant state of crybaby-ism.

Agree. There will always be someone crying they were left out. Better #5 or #9 or so on then #3.

I agree with Michigan that there should be some short of playoff, but I disagree with wanting Florida getting killed and Michigan killing USC. I 'm tired of crying. Funny Michigan fans call Meyer a crybaby.

I don't know if maybe everyone missed the sarcasm I was trying to lay on with this post. I think the teams that have had a legitimate beef against OSU for national title rights are clearly: Florida, Michigan, and USC. USC proved they aren't title-worthy by losing to Oregon State and UCLA. Michigan proved that at best they weren't as good as the Buckeyes. Now, it's Florida's chance to prove what they can do. USC and Michigan state can battle it out for 3rd/2nd/who cares.

This year, it's almost like a playoff actually happened, albeit inadvertently.
