I hear Michigan is waiting until after the bowl game to evaluate Rich Rodriquez. I hope for their sake that means they are keeping him.

In my view, one of the really bad things about Kiffin's departure last year was the timing. Right now there are a host of coaching changes going on and most of the really hot coaches are already either moving or signing extensions to stay where they are. That leaves you with coaches that either weren't approached or already turned down jobs.

After Kiffin left, Tennessee had to wade into that pool and understandably a lot of coaches were reluctant to up and leave right before signing day, especially after the beating Kiffin took for leaving.

So if Michigan thinks its going to wait until after its bowl and then snatch up a good coach, it seems to me they are unnecessarily narrowing the field of candidates by waiting.

If I were them, I'd take Harbaugh if possible. If not, I'd give Rich Rod another year.

His buyout drops from $4 million to $2.5 million on January 1st. Waiting a few weeks to can RR will save UM a considerable sum of money.

If they're considering firing him after the bowl, it's certain that they're already approaching candidates behind the scenes.

I feel like he hasn't done poorly enough to be fired. He inherited a team which everyone bailed on. He's been improving consistently, and I think his record merits at least one more year. Now if the defense doesn't improve and they don't win at least 9 next year, I'd probably agree with firing him.

Alabama hired Saban about the same time of the month TN hired Dooley. If the money is there and you got the right AD, then a major program can get a great coach.

Difference is Saban came from the NFL

Short of a blowout win over Miss St in the Gator Bowl, IMO Rich Rod is gone...Harbaugh would be their first choice but I personally don't think he'll ever leave Stanford of his own accord...With that being said, Michigan has a chance to right the ship and reclaim a position of prominence with the next hire....Hire Brady Hoke!!!! IMHO Hoke would be able to re-establish some pride at Michigan, win some games and compete for conference titles fairly quickly..His new extension at SDSU is for 5 years but only pays about $1 million per...His buyout was kept at $1.5 million and the man flat out wants the job...If RR goes, Mich should snatch Hoke up...JMO

I have to believe Michigan wants Harbaugh if they are making a move. The man has Stanford playing the bully these days. He is the one that would bring Michigan back for decades IMO.

Of course we want Harbaugh. That's the guy. And the Michigan faithful are worried that if we continue to wait for Rich Rod, Harbaugh is gone to the NFL. We know he wont' take another college job. So it's just a matter of what the AD wants.

seems strange to not give rich rod another year. hire harbaugh and you are looking at another painful transition for a couple of years.

yeah but they LOVE Harbaugh. They would be patient with Harbaugh. They would give a Giant Michigan Group hug to Harbaugh.
