These things should be illegal. 16 years of age or successfully completed his Sophomore year of high school, at the earliest.

No kidding.
Kids who cannot even get a driver's license shouldn't be hit with this. So much can change between grade school and college too.

Nothing new. Bobby Knight pioneered this approach with Damon Bailey 25 years ago.

The coaches are not the biggest problem in this process. The problem is that every school has at least one message board, and most message boards have a writer assigned to know everything about the kid.

True Story here: I recieved a tweet from a college coach about my kid's game last spring. "Thats a nice swing, cant wait to get the lefty on campus #HRderby"

For 3 days I recieved over 40 messages from college coaches and message board columnists asking about my kid, wanting to talk to him.

My kid just turned 5. And it was a TBall game (but my kid did hit one over the fence, and one off the fence) The college coach is a high school friend. It is crazy.

(I put the kid on the phone to one of the writers. It was most excellent)
