Well, left for another position. Hard to blame him, but he did a mediocre job in his 18 months there.

It's difficult to build a competitive athletic program when it's not a priority for the university's administration, and you can't consistently draw more than 20,000 paying customers to watch the football team.

That's the AD's job. Get people to football games. Market. Lower prices (ticket and parking). This team is actually exceeding expectations this year, capitalize for christ's sake.

The University Admin, Donna Shalala in particular, know that the football program is the biggest asset of the school. She's focusing on academics and doing a great job, but she understands the importance of the program. She just needs to find an AD who isn't going to shy away from this situation.
