Hi Guys & Gals...I'm a newbie here and am as frustrated as anyone with the current situation as we were expecting a bangup season.... :banghead: just my :twocents: but since we have all the talent we need there are just a few weak points which have plagued us(IMO)...we could have beat FL...we had AL beat except for the unfortunate last fumble...it was inevitable that Riggs would get hurt as he ran "straight up" most of the time and was hesitant in his running style...he was the nail instead of the hammer...glad he lasted this long...Foster is a bright spot and Riggs' loss might be a blessing in disguise (for the team of course)...If Anderson had protected the ball he probably wouldn't have fumbled but, to his credit, he was running hard... the kicking game has been somewhat of a disaster (Gen. Neyland has probably worn a hole in his coffin from turning over) as it's been a UT tradition forever and one of the General's major emphasis' on the game (nothing's changed--it still is)....we have been OH SO close but the little things have killed us (no surprise here)...these are things that coaching could correct but we've got some young guys, too...Clausen has been a surprise and has performed admirably...after looking at the tape the AL receiver pushed off :stop: of the defender right before the catch on their last bomb...it could have been called...but then...maybe next year....who was it that said, "Mighty oaks are felled by small strokes?" :cross:

Looking at it on tape, the "push off" was enough to keep Gaines from making any play on the ball. Not making any excuses, we took one on the chin and will move on.

WELCOME by the way.... :hi:

If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

I don't think it was much of a push off. It was just a typical jump ball type play. Gaines was in good position to bat it down or even pick it off, but lost the football.

I agree. Seemed like he was just trying to locate the defender. Besides, defender was not affected by it. Good no-call.

Plus the Back Judge would have never made it out of Tuscaloosa alive if he had thrown a flag. :yikes:

i know man!! what confuses me is that he was in great position...he turned around at the last sec to find the reciever instead of swat the ball down :nono: ....o well lets get ready for sc

I still don't know why in the world Gaines was one on one streaking down the sideline. I'm still waiting for an explanation from someone. Anybody??

He was 1 on 1 because we blitzed and left him on an island by himself. But I have no idea why he was lined up on their #1 receiver?

it doesnt matter who was there.....he was in great position....give the throw and catch credit....thats good that we can go to our 6th or further down DB and he can cover number 1 receivers

I will agree that the coverage on that play was actually pretty good, but I don't really think we want to make a practice of lining up Nickle and Dime backs on #1 receivers.

if the punt hadn't been muffed, and the penalties right before the "fumble" (I hate to mention it in fear of turning this into a CA bash), then the "push" wouldn't have been an issue (it was a good no call)

Only thing i see is where he barely even touches him without any force whatsoever.

There is enough force to get separation whether it helps DJ get further to the sideline or stops Gaines from drifting towards DJ - no doubt about it. The contact doesn't have to change the direction of a player to be effective.

That being said - it should be a no call.
