Great hire. He's got Nolan Richardson's ability without all the headaches Nolan tended to induce. Anderson is a more consistent leader as a head coach. That produces better results in the long run for a program.

Only issue is recruiting-oriented. Towards the end, Richardson couldn't attract legitimate big men to play in his system. Anderson's Missouri teams looked very similar to me.

This being said, it will energize the Arkansas basketball program. It will not take Anderson long to get Arkansas back to the NCAA tournament. And considering how weak the SEC West is in basketball, he may well end up dominating that side of the conference.

He would've been close to perfect for Tennessee at this time. He knows how to operate and run a winning program where the previous regime had NCAA issues. We need that kind of expertise right now.

Why would Anderson go from Missouri to Arkansas...

With NU & CU leaving the Big XII, Mizzou will have to drop a lot of easy OCC wins to accommidate the new round robin conference schedule. Also, with the instability of the Big XII Arkansas is his Golden Parachute.

Did Arky wiff??? :loco: Missouri Tigers to keep basketball coach Mike Anderson with new deal, sources say - ESPN
ESPN.com news services

For the second straight year, Missouri basketball coach Mike Anderson will eschew outside offers in favor of a contract extension and a raise from the Tigers, multiple school sources told ESPN.com's Andy Katz on Monday.

The sources confirmed a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report that the school was on the verge of finalizing a new deal with Anderson that will add two years to his current contract. Also, Anderson will receive a bump in salary to nearly $2 million, up from his current pay grade of roughly $1.5 million, the sources confirmed.

The sources said the deal is imminent and confirmed the Post-Dispatch report that the talks had been ongoing for some time.

The Post-Dispatch reported Monday that the deal had to be formally approved by university officials.

Anderson was rumored to be a candidate for the opening at Arkansas, where he was an assistant for 17 years. Arkansas fired coach John Pelphrey on March 13.

Anderson received a new seven-year deal last April after he interviewed for the Oregon coaching job.

I'll always root for my native Hogs, but as a new resident of Knoxville, UT is now a close #2... Now let's find a coach for UT. Maybe an AD, too.

I'm new, so forgive me if I ask a question that shouldn't be asked... What about Fulmer for AD? While Osborne left Nebraska under different circumstances than what Fulmer did at UT, it seems to be working out well for Husker Nation so far. Could that be a possibility here?

Razorback Foundation approved a 7 yr contract at $2.2MM/yr with a $500K buyout clause. Anderson might be introduced tonight, but tomorrow is more likely.

The downside to this is that UA has to deal with Jimmy Sexton again. I thought when we finally threw Nutt overboard we'd be finished with Sexton, but he's found a way to slither back to Fayetteville. Maybe UT can keep him away...

you was just about set to fit in until you asked what about Fulmer for AD.This is your 1st fail and when you get your 2nd fail you have to go to the back of the line.
