If Kirby was smart (pun intended) he would hire Bobo to replace their current underperforming OC.
LOL...you're naming their best players from different seasons. I realize that some of them were at UGA at the same time, but not all. And they certainly didn't have the o-line UGA has had during this season. My argument is that UGA has more talent overall on offense this season than Bobo had during any of his seasons at UGA.Umm Bobo had Stafford, Murray, Chubb, Michel, Gurley, AJ Green, and Crowell. Less talent?

Also, it wasn't Richt's offense for the last few years Bobo was there. He turned everything over to Bobo. The offense then took a dive after Bobo left. I think he's a better OC than what they have now in Coley. He only got the OC job because he's a good recruiter and Kirby didn't want to lose him. Fromm and the offense have struggled quite a bit since they left Neyland.
I think he's referring to recruiting rankings. Starting in 2017, Kirby went #3, #1, #2 in the national rankings. Richt, as good as he was, never had a streak like that. Richt, over the balance of his career, was a solid top 10 recruiter. Thus far Kirby, in a limited sample size, has been a top 3 recruiter.Of course they were from different seasons, two of them were quarterbacks that I listed. Your argument that UGA has more talent now than under Bobo doesn't hold water. Outside of Swift, no one listed can compete with those players listed. Aaron Murray and Matthew Stafford were twice the qb's Fromm is and AJ Green is far superior than any wr on Georgia's roster since he left; Chubb, Gurley, and Michel are all starting rb's in the NFL. The only SEC championship won under Richt was with Richt as the OC in 2005 before Bobo. Stafford, Moreno, and AJ Green were all on the same team under Bobo, as well Murray, and Gurley twice. Then, there was the team that had Gurley, Chubb, and Michel in the same backfield. I am not sure what lack of talent you are referring to? Unless you believe Fromm and Swift are better than Murray and Gurley? Jake Fromm has yet to throw over 3k yards in a single season, Murray did it all four seasons as a starter.

I do agree with @utvols83 that you were kind of cobbling together some of the top players from different seasons, but I'll throw you a bone and point to that 2008 season. They were preseason #1 and had Matthew Stafford (Junior), Mohamed Massaquoi (Senior), Knowshon Moreno (RS Sophomore), and AJ Green (freshman) all on the same team. Green was their leading receiver as a true frosh. The offensive line and defense was stocked with guys who eventually were drafted like Clint Boling, Ben Jones, Cordy Glenn, Justin Houston, Geno Atkins, Rennie Curran, Akeem Dent, and Bacarri Rambo. Even the kicker (Blair Walsh) had a long, if somewhat infamous, NFL career.
The fact that team finished with a 9-3 regular season ranked 13th in the country might be Richt's single biggest disappointment. That team was absolutely loaded. There wasn't a single hole on that roster. It's so hard to look at the players they had on that team and figure out how they didn't even finish as a top 10 team. I still remember that 39 point loss to Florida in the Cocktail Party that year. Everybody is like "Well, yeah, Florida had Tebow," as if Georgia had chopped liver by comparison. They also had that embarrassing primetime beatdown at home at the hands of Alabama where they wore the black jerseys that prompted Scott Cochran's famous "They're wearing black because they're going to a f'n funeral" comment. Alabama led 31-0 at halftime and it was nowhere near as close as the final score indicated. Was 41-17 before 2 garbage time TDs made the final score 41-30.
When they negotiate an agreement to leave there is most certainly money "buyout" that would be a win win for the coach and the school. Buyout money will be less than the contract value so the school saves some money and the coach gets resign instead of being fired and they get to say something akin to "I'm resigning due to differences of opinion of the how the program should be run going forward".Do you get your buy out when you step down?
