After thinking about the whole situation...it's apparent that what you have here is a spoiled little punk trying to use his daddy's media clout as leverage in his little tantrums...that got him put in detention, essentially, in the first place.
I think the media is just trying to sensationalize the whole thing and I hope Leach puts a major financial hurt on TT in court. I mean come on...the kid shows up to practice not in team gear like he's supposed to, and this is just another episode of the kid trying to be an individual and do his own thing. In light of that, I can clearly understand where Leach was going with this form of discipline.

"You want to be an individual instead of a team player...fine, instead of making you run laps til you puke (knowing he'd cry..."look what coach made me do, daddy"), go sit by by yourself in a nice cool place, where you don't have to work your but off like the other players do."

I think the kid and his daddy are going to get their feelings hurt in court when the truth comes out. Leach was disciplining the kid for his ATTITUDE and LACK OF WORK ETHIC..not because he had a concussion. This sounds just like a little brat trying to manipulate one parent who wouldn't let him have his way...."Mommy, Daddy whooped me cause I was watching TV" :cray:

When the facts of the matter is the kid was told to clean his room and do his homework...and after being told multiple times and the kid ingoring him, his dad broke out the belt.

Can I get a Cliff Notes version of this, by chance? :)

I dont know who is right or wrong here but there have been several other players who have come forward and said that Leach's treatment of players wasn't always appropriate.

You got it with the title. If you're scared of a little reading, you're in the wrong place, I'm afraid. Maybe Youtube is what you where looking for? :)

Reading pointless posts on what is common knowledge to most people on this board is a total waste, hence why I asked for a Cliff Notes version :)

That James kid is a pansy! What a disgrace that in the violent game of football someone was punished by sitting alone in the dark. Leach should have slapped some Ben Gay on his jewels and video taped it and released it to TMZ.

I dont disagree with you that he is a pansy and probably a little spoiled rich prick but I dont think you can tell a trainer to put a kid in a "small dark effin room where he can't effin sit down"(paraphrase) and have all of this come out then not be willing to apologize for it and keep your job.

And I would have also enjoyed watching him run around and scream with bengay on his nuts

I have not seen any players who have defended him...
They bring that up everytime the discussion is brought up...ESPN or elsewhere.

See...the point here is that the little punk and his daddy are trying to frame the issue that he was being disciplined for having a concussion. I can't believe anyone is buying that BS. Not even Bob Knight would try to punish a player for getting an injury. That is beyond absurd, and I can't believe James Sr. has the balls to talk on national TV trying to sell that line of trash. He knows, just like his little brat, that the kid was being punished for other reasons...and sitting in a small office near the field is hardly an alarming form of discipline. Unorthodox, but they want the public to believe he was having his son waterboarded or something.

James does come off looking like an entitled brat, but that's not the real story.

The administration was just looking for any excuse to get rid of him. If everything was right in Lubbock prior to the incident, there's no way that this event even makes news, let alone gets him fired.

Agreed, although ESPN is showing their true colors in their very much biased coverage.

This was nothing more than a creative, unorthodox way of disciplining James Jr for not giving the required effort and acting like an indiviual instead of a team player. So, putting him by himself for brief spell should get that point across. Rather than learning his lesson, he goes crying to daddy to throw a tantrum for him on national TV.

If he was that much of a problem, kick him off the team. They were probably both in the wrong, but Leach should've acted like the adult and superior. Just kick the little brat off the team.

What...Volfans can't talk about current events in NCAA football here?...damn, didn't know that. Is there any way I can get a warning as opposed to a citation here, officer? :)

Sure you can and its highly encouraged. But just do it in the appropriate forum. There's a forum called Around the NCAA. You will find a lot of good topics in there I'm sure you will enjoy. Don't get upset if this thread is moved there. The Mods are just trying to keep it organized.

I love the OP.

Parents are afraid to let their children become men. If Leach said I do not believe you have a concussion so I am going to punch you in the face that would be wrong. Taking mr. sunglasses and putting him in the dark was fine. That is what people used to be told to do for a concussion and if he were to lie down and fall asleep it would go against what Leach was told about concussed players when he was coming up.

Craig James is right up there with Linda Bensel Meyers for CFB fans who care.

I believe we have a winner. The athletic department could not afford his salary since it was in the red when his new contract was signed last year. This termination of Leach was just a way to save money.

Just another kid with friends (family, in this case) with high places expecting some sort of entitlement. ESPN, the administration and the James' are ridiculing Leach on the notion that he was punished for having a concussion which doesn't fit. The kid disrespected the team and practice when he showed up in street clothes and sunglasses knowing all too well that practices were dress-out only. And since when can you not dress out with a concussion? I've suffered a concussion at football before and I wasn't sent home for a week. You come out to practice, dressed out, and take the practice in.

Leach and the administration have been at each other for a while, evidenced by the controversy with his pay this past year. They were looking for a reason and they got one. Leach is better off away from that hellhole in sorry Texas. He'll find a spot somewhere and work his magic and Texas Tech and their fans will sink back into dumpsville.

agreed with OP. Leach is a weirdo (cant argue that with his pirate infatuation). He coaches old school discipline. If he coached just 25-30 years ago he would look like a gentleman compared to Bear bryant and Woody Hayes and Bobby knight.
