Makes me wonder if we were in a bidding war or something behind the scenes. Also makes me sad he didn't come here since it's apparent he was willing to leave Boise.

I was told Butch wanted Sanford pretty bad, he just told us no.

I don't think that's the case. I think it was Debord from the very start and Butch didn't really peruse anyone else very seriously.

Just what I was told by a buddy who works over there. It could have been a smoke screen, but he's usually pretty accurate if you can get him to talk about anything.

Butch interviewed Sanford but it was nothing more than a filler interview and the hire was seemingly already made with Debord. However with that being said the one candidate that they would have liked to have had over Debord was Norvell. But money was an issue there since the bid would have been at least 1.1 million to get him here and UT just did not want to enter that realm yet.

True all of this. If you want a top notch coordinator of any type you have to be willing to pay. We were not and have not ever been willing to pay for a coordinator or a HC. Otherwise we could have landed on our feet pretty after the CPF firing by hiring Sumlin or Gary Patterson both which were heavily interested in the job and we took Lane Kiffin. Smdh
