Espn just announced it, and the Miami Herald has a big write up in their paper about the possibility of Mike becoming Saban's successor. Apparently he spent the weekend with the dolphins owner, and that this was his SECOND interview. This has been in the works but they were keeping it under wraps until they established that he was a legitmate candidate. Apparently they have decided he was. :eek:hmy:

Hatvol will have a field day with this one.

I'll hang up and listen!

I would laugh my @$$ off if Shula lead the Dolphins to success while Saban bombed.

I hope he wins many Super Bowls. He was/is a class act and is still well liked here. He just refused to change his staff and wouldn't give up his playcalling duties. That's all he had to do to still be our coach. Thank the Lord for stubborness.

So, all he needs to do to get the Miami job is let someone else hire his staff, and not call any plays???

I heard that on the dolphins msg boards that they are not happy. one of my managers said that someone on the dolphins msg board said that if they get Shula then bama has screwed them twice. i thought that was pretty good

that will never happen.....just paying lip service to his dad, by interviewing his son

why should he shut up after the screw job Saban put on the Dolphins. there's even rumor that Saban secretly lobbied to get Shula fired just so he could get the 'Bama job.

You stick up for your family.

Have they already interviewed the other Shula brother, or is he farther down the list?

couple different ways to look at it. if it was just a favor for don, I would think ONE interview would have been sufficient. Not spending all day with him saturday. Much less saying that they were keeping it under wraps until something was official. Could mean that this is legit.

Or that it is all a big ploy to trick the media into thinking that Mike is actually worth looking at. And it is all just a big smoke screen to get his name out there while they sneek ol Gailey in the back door.

Gailey might even be a worse choice than Shula.

That's why it's in the other sports section, but still affects the Vols because they are an SEC foe. Now that we have that out of the way...

We'll see how it goes. Coaching in the NFL and college are two very different beasts... I'm sure daddy Don Shula will pull out all the stops to make sure his boy has all the administrative help he needs to make it in the pros. That's NFL head coaches are anyways; administrators. The assistants do all the real football work in most cases anyhow.

I'm pretty sure HIGHTIDE posted this in the Vols Forum after it had already been posted in the other sports forum, thus OE's response.
