Mike Stoops fired by Arizona

Mike Stoops has been fired by the University of Arizona after a 1-5 start, Stoops confirmed to ESPN.com's Ted Miller on Monday.

The move will be announced at a news conference shortly, a source told ESPN.com's Joe Schad.

"It's just a lot of things, overall where we are at with our program," Stoops told Miller.

Stoops had some bad ass defenses at OU and can recruit.

I agree, I like Coach Wilcox and I think he can recruit too but I would hire Mike Stoops tomorrow if we could get him.

as soon as i saw on espn he was fired i thought of how great it would be to have him at ut. but as fans we have to ride it out at least one more year. plus i dont think he goes anywhere but oklahoma, iowa(he played there), or k-state(he has coached here). it would be nice to have him though. dont repeat that though it might make people flip out and go crazy, or tell me im not a true fan anymore, or call me a negavol haha.

Dooley would make arguments on why to keep Wilcox. I dont see Hart being that demanding. I do see Hart giving Dooley whatever he wants and if Dooley wants Stoops, Hart will do his best to get him
