What is your example of a good beer? I have to say, I am a pale ale/ pilsner fan. I guess I'm not sophisticated enough for darker beers.

I have never had a taste for Miller or Coors. For cheap, boating and sporting event beer, I go with Bud. If I am out, I will usually try whatever local brews they have on tap. There are very few IPAs that I like, but the ones I do like I love. I very much enjoy blondes, stouts, and trippels.

my favorite brew is Michelob Light. I shamefully have to admit that I am a big fan of Mickey's malt liquor, too.

Not a fan of Bud Light. Can't say I've ever had a regular Bud.

Here's a good beer, imo. I'm having one now.

Looks like I might like it. Not a fan of too many dark beers. Is it hard to find?

Not if you live in Utah. It's a local brew. The type of beer is Belgian White/Wheat. I think Blue Moon makes one if you have that locally. Hefeweizen makes one. Here's a quick read on them that I just found. Only dark beers I've tried that I really like is Guinness Draught. I don't drink much anymore but I'm liking these types of pale ale.

Thanks man. I am not in Utah. I am in God's country of NETN. We have Blue Moon and can get Hefeweitzen. A buddy of my drinks a 'chunky style' Hefeweitzen.

I wouldn't classify it as dark, but I like Killian's.

edit: just read the link and all Hefeweitzen is unfiltered, if I read correctly.

The Blue Moon is pretty tasty, IMO. I get the Wasatch because it is a good local brewpub beer and I can get it at the liquor store at 6- proof. Beer sold in supermarkets here can only be around 3-3.5 or so.

In this economy, I certainly understand the desire to get more 'bang' for the buck and supporting local business.:hi:

I do it as frequently as possible (supporting locals).

Either local or import for me. Nothing else. I can't stand the big American beer tastes. Too watered down. I still have 8 of 12 Yeunglings in my fridge from Christmas time. I'd rather pay more for good beer.

I'm like some or many on here. Younger/leaner days, I did the American brews. Never cared for them but they did the job cheaply. That ended a long time ago. I can't get past the smell of them anymore.

Smell and taste. I used to only do them for beer pong, but can't even stomach that anymore. Hell, I've never had a PBR or Natty Light even. Not appealing at all. I also don't drink to get drunk anymore, either.

Nor, do I. I'm drinking/sipping a few of the Wasatch now. I've had two in the past 3 hours. And, that is a big part of it now. Actually sip and taste it. Hman will be here shortly making fun of the Tecate I used to drink and touting the PBR. A lot of different tastes is why they make so many different beers. A store I used to buy from in San Berdoo carried about 300 different brands.

I recommend the documentary Beer Wars (it was on Netflix for awhile and still might be). The movie examines the challenges that the craft breweries face to get their products to market, not in the anti-corporation mold but more like David vs. Goliath. It also explains why most breweries have strong regional popularity, but have a hard time growing their brand.
