How much does it hurt us, especially on a weekend like this, not having an OLC or DLC/DC? I would assume that OL is a major need at this point, so what do they tell these players? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen. :)

One of the reasons I'm asking...When DD was asked about the defense 3/4 or 4/3, he didn't seem ready to commit. I assumed it was because to a degree it depends on who he hires at DC. I'm sure Chaney could answer most of the offensive questions, but how much does them not knowing for sure who their position coach at UT will be, as opposed to another school that doesn't have this problem, effect their decision?

Tell them that you appriciate their talent level and how good they really are. That it is for this reason that you are taking your time to find the very best availible OL/DL/DC in the country. You tell them if they come to Tennessee they may have to wait to know who it will be, and what name is attached to them, but they can rest assured whoever it is there will not be another anywhere in the country better at helping them become the very best they can be.

Eric can we sticky something that lets everyone know Thompson is best as a DL coach. That he is a stud DL coach. Better then O IMO. That he has been learning how to coach LBs. I am tired of everyone being so ignorant about it.

Easy big fella...Thompson might make a fine DC too...:)
At this point he's the LB coach.

The reality is that Dooley might not get the assistants he wants until after NSD. They are probably loyal enough to their current jobs not to leave them in the lurch the way Kiffin's rats deserted this (sinking?) ship.

i think not having these coaches is actually killing us, i mean if we would have the coaches in place and the recruits could see what kind of system that they will run....i just think its hurting us right now

Zero, because DD will recruit to UT, not to a coach. Next question ?

I have a question concerning this. I read in an article talking about the reason that the Buc's LB Coach Barry was in consideration for the DC position here was because CDD liked how our scheme last year was working out and through all of CDD's research on the cover 2, he liked what he learned about Coach Barry the most.

So, does this mean (assuming I got the paraphrase correct and in context) that CDD wants to keep the cover 2 here? If so, that sort of makes me uneasy since I don't think CDD has ever coached on a team that ran the cover 2 (an educated assumption - Saban's teams all ran a 3-4 / 4-3...)

I would think they would want a DC more in line of what they (CDD, CTJ and CLT) are comfortable with. I also think that all the coaches being on the same page schematically is more important than preserving the cover 2 from last year for the players - if that is a reason why he would consider this.

My opinion from his press conference is he's gonna give his coordinators more control than Saban and other HC's.

I think your assessment that he likes what Monte did here last year is correct, and he wants to continue this momentum. I think Barry was the name he kept hearing when he wanted that scheme.

But I think CDD will let his coordinators call the shots on both sides of the ball, with less impact than we're used to seeing.

That was my impression of his "team concept" of his coaching staff.
