Found this on Saturday Down South.

Missouri starting DL Harold Brantley, as well as Missouri Women's BB player Maddie Stock, were injured in a wreck, the former having serious injuries while the latter minor injuries.

Report: Mizzou DL Harold Brantley 'seriously injured' in car wreck

Missouri junior defensive lineman Harold Brantley has been injured in a car wreck, according to KRCG13 reporter Ashley Zavala.

Mizzou Women’s basketball player Maddie Stock was also in the car with Brantley.

Zavala’s Twitter timeline included details and a photo of the accident:

Mizzou DL Harold Brantley was inside of this car that swerved off the highway just south of Columbia

Also in the car was Mizzou Women's basketball player Maddie Stock. She sustained minor injuries according to MSHP.

Mizzou DL Harold Brantley was the driver of the vehicle. He and Stock were transported to University Hospital.

According to MSHP, neither Brantley nor Stock wore a seatbelt

According to the report by Zavala, the car Brantley was driving — a 2000 Chrysler Concorde — traveled off the left side of the road when he overcorrected to the right side. The car then struck a guardrail and overturned.

Brantley is one of the Tigers’ anchors along the defensive line for 2015 after posting a fantastic sophomore season in 2014.

They put seat belts in cars for a reason. Please use them. Not because I say so but for the folks who care about you. Tragic but preventable IMHO. Actually I know from being in a rollover accident "back in the day".

There was apparently also some really bad weather in that area of the state today, so that may have very well caused the wreck.

Not that it gives a pass about the seatbelt thing either.

Missouri Tigers lineman Harold Brantley upgraded to good condition after car accident

Missouri Tigers defensive lineman Harold Brantley has improved to good condition after undergoing surgery for a fractured left leg following a car crash on Sunday.

Rex Sharp, the associate athletic director for sports medicine at Missouri, said in a news release Monday that Brantley, who also suffered several rib fractures, will undergo additional knee surgery in three to four weeks to repair ligament damage.

"We're pleased to report that the prognosis is very good long-term, and that Harold should be able to make a full physical recovery," the school said in a statement.

Brantley should be able to be moved from ICU and into a regular room on Tuesday, Sharp said.

Madeleine Stock, a Missouri women's basketball player, was treated and released for minor injuries she suffered in the accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Brantley's car went off U.S. 63 in Columbia after he overcorrected. The car then hit a guardrail and overturned. Neither Brantley nor Stock, both 21, was wearing a seatbelt, according to the accident report.

The university said it's too early to say when Brantley will return to the football team.

"We're going to leave that open and focus all attention on helping Harold recover and get back to full health first," Sharp said.

I believe it has been reported that he has a broken tibia that required surgical repair, ligament damage in his left knee, and multiple broken ribs.

That sounds like it may be football ending for him. Damn.

Yeah, the post above yours is what Espn reported 2 or so hours ago.

He'll need surgery in his left knee within a month it sounds like, according to the press release.

They're expecting that he'll be out of the ICU and into a regular hospital room by tomorrow.

I hate to hear that. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery

Seems he'll make a "full physical recovery." Wonder if he has a redshirt available. He's talented. It would be a shame to see his career ended so young.

He is a rising junior and would be eligible for a medical or regular redshirt best I can tell from his mizzou bio. Glad he is going to be ok, football is very distant secondary concern after an event like this.

Dave Matter(St Louis Post-Dispatch) said on Finebaum that Brantley was swerving from something in the road, overcorrected, and then lost control before hitting the guard rail. He broke his leg and tore some ligaments in his knee. They aren't sure if it's ACL, MCL, or some other ligaments.

I would be shocked to see him on the field this year. I hope he can recover and red shirt.

It would take a miracle for him to play this year. Fall camp is barely over a month away.

Hate this for any person no matter what team they're on. Praying they both get better.

Sounds like the damage is worse than Charles Mosely's accident last July that ended up with him redshirting. I think Mosely was able to participate in spring practice though.

Late on it, but the player was finally released from the hospital last week:

One week after sustaining serious injuries in a one-car accident, Missouri defensive tackle Harold Brantley has been released from University Hospital.

Brantley, who was not wearing a seat belt in the accident, suffered a broken tibia that required immediate surgery. He also needs surgery for damaged ligaments in his knee and fractured several ribs.

“Harold is making great progress and is no longer at University Hospital,” MU spokesman Chad Moller said Tuesday afternoon, according to The Columbia Tribune. “He’s at a different transitional facility now for a few days and is hopeful of being able to go home near the end of this week.”

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Brantley started 10 games last year for Mizzou, finishing the season with 5 sacks. Many national and SEC-wide preseason publications touted him as a potential star in 2015, as it looked like he would become the new alpha player in a traditionally-great position group.

There haven’t been any official reports about Brantley’s athletic prognosis, as football has become secondary to his recovery. The athletic department’s initial news release stated that Brantley would have knee surgery at some point in the coming weeks.

A redshirt junior, Brantley will remain eligible in 2016. It likely will be some time before we know whether Brantley still has a future on the football field, but it’s possible he could petition the NCAA for a medical hardship that would extend his college eligibility into ’17.

For now, it’s good to know that he’s making steady progress and that he’s going to be OK regardless. It’s also a reminder to all of us that there’s no reason to avoid wearing our seat belts.

Mizzou DT Harold Brantley finally released from hospital
