As the baseball Gods and the politicians begin to determine the fate of the future of the game by scrutinizing the past actions of some of it's elite players I have a few questions. The outcome of these hearings will enevitably determine how the world perceives Roger Clemens, but in the court of public opinon, I am most certain the overwhelming majority has him marked guilty. At this point, does it really matter? Look how we view Bonds. His records are not going anywhere.

Lets face it folks. At this point the directive of this hearing is to seek out Roger Clemens. And all for naught if you ask me. It is quite clear that they will attempt to distract the public, by using Tejada's statements in 05 to lead everyone into thinking that Clemens is not the only target, but in the end, he is, was, and always has been. The biggest name on the list.....I get it. Hall of Fame caliber player.....I get it. Multiple Cy Youngs...I get it.

It is shamefull however to see them use this many resources, time, money, and energy only to single out one guy. Of course, I think it is equally shamefull that Roger is in this situation. I am not naive enough to say Clemens wasnt a user. I am ticked enough to say that these proceedings are directed solely on him.

Now we must all suffer through the sport talk radio, espn analysis, and the reports on this which we undoubtedly be drug out well over the course of time in the upcoming months. All to "prove" Clemens was a user.

In short, hey Mitchell/Selig....we get it. You uncovered it (Senator) and you screwed up (Selig). Dont throw Tejada under the bus as a distraction and think everyone is buying it. Lets get this solved and move on, because quite frankly, I'm a little tired of hearing about it. You cannot escape it. TV, radio, sports bar conversation, water cooler. It is everywhere and as a sports fan, it is truly getting old.

One last thing. His name is pronounced "Pal-Mair- O" NOT "Pal-a-maury" and to answer the question. No he was not tested before rounding second on his 300th hit.

Tejada is being thrown under the bus because it's pretty apparent that he lied them in their investigation of Palmeiro. They lose a lot of their ability to conduct investigations if lying to their hound dogs is a viable alternative.

The only outcome I see from any of this is that people will continue to care less and less about baseball. Whose fault is that? It sure isn't the media's fault as many would like it to be. It's people like Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire for whom their own necks are more important than baseball. Roger can act like a petulant kid all he wants, but people will continue to tune out. I peg it on the players, even the ones who never took a drug in their lives, because even if they don't shoot it up themselves, they keep quiet about it, and pretend like it isn't there.
