Could he be back by our game? Is this just them trying to make us prep for both guys?

Here is a Mizzu website article on thier injury situation going into our game:

Well, there's certainly one big move: Missouri has a new third-string quarterback, and his name is James Franklin. Franklin is listed as "questionable" behind both Maty Mauk and Eddie Printz, but he is indeed listed. The Tennessee will take place three weeks and about four hours after he suffered his shoulder sprain against Georgia. I don't want him playing unless he's 100 percent -- I think Mauk can do plenty of damage to Tennessee's defense -- but one has to be encouraged by Franklin's recovery overall, even if he doesn't play against the Vols.

Another interesting note is that Mizzu apparently gets back thier senior and best Corner who was out for the USCjr game.

•Not questionable: E.J. Gaines. The senior cornerback is listed as a starter once again. Aarion Penton and John Gibson did a hell of a job with their increased playing time in his absence -- they each recorded a pick in the last two games -- but it's nice to have Gaines back, to say the least.

It could be a Shaw situation; they put Franklin in late to spur some offense.

I still doubt he plays.

Could just be their strategy for our defensive coordinator. They aren't 100% sure at this point how to prepare their defense because of Worley's injury. Maybe their just trying to level the playing field.

That's silly. I hope none of their first string plays. The win counts the same no matter how you get it. The easier it is for us, the better.

This. How many years has TN had to play with back ups due to injury and lost. Its time for teams to return the favor. We need W's at this point.

I hope he does play. We need no excuses or advantages to beat this team.

Over used statement. I don't care if they have their 4th team in and we beat them. Our program needs a bowl game this year. Once we are loaded and stacked with talent and strength of schedule becomes an issue to get into the 4 team playoff this statement will have validity.

This.

I don't remember anyone knocking James Franklin's accomplishments last year, and he did it because of injuries and a weak schedule.

Had Franklin played for Mizzou last year, no way they beat Missouri.

Also, We are now on our third string QB so I have no sympathy for them

Who may also be the most capable considering he put up 10 points in one half against Bama's D. If Worley didn't have an injury I'd take him as a starter too, but I'm excited to see what Dobbs can do.

It's silly to puff out and beat our chests like a preening peacock and say this. Winning the ball game is the only concern here. Not moral victories, but a W in the records. If that means they have to play the water boys, then so be it.

I like the bravado, but we need every advantage we can get against this team.

They did whip both Uga and UF, teams that last time I checked, we lost to.

And get this...Franklin didn't play against UF either.

Personally I hope their entire OL gets a bad ase of the runs.

Both QBs are dual threat so the scheme doesn't need changing.

Not really. Mauk's only ran about 17 yards against UF and 12 yards against USCe.

He's mobile in potential, but based on lack of experience he has far less running potential...also Franklin could power run if need be, Mauk's really to small to do so/

You seriously not remember 04?

As far as regular season went, we had to play Rick for Vandy and UK.

And even then he was a junior (and injuries forced us down that far on the depth chart; there was a guy ahead of him)

I'm not sure it's really the same as had we lost a QB in the early/middle of the year (for let's just say a month or two) and had to trot Johnny no-experience out to say play UGA, Bama, and South Carolina.

I'm asking have we ever had an injury that devastating or detrimental to what looked possibly to be a really successful season.

Wasn't Peyton an early 3rd string unproven replacement for Helton and Colquit? Not to compare the 2 seasons but we finished 8-4 in Peyton's first year as a replacement.

We also had to play RC in the second half against ND which probably cost us the game. We also would have had a better chance in the SECCG. I would say that was detrimental to a successful season since we could have possibly finished 13-1 as opposed to 11-3.
