Just saw the Sports Center special with Maurice Jones-Drew and they asked him who his "sleeper" back would be this year.

"My buddies in Houston are telling me that Foster is going to have a good year. He was banged up last year, but came to camp ready to roll".

Very nice!

it comes from a thing he did on August 4. Foster is his fantasy football sleeper.

MJD fantasy sleeper: Arian Foster - AFC South Blog - ESPN

Maurice Jones-Drew's fantasy football radio show, “Runnin’ with MJD,” debuts Saturday night on Sirius. It’ll be a Friday night show during the regular season.

When I spent time with him Tuesday and asked him for a sleeper pick, he was initially reluctant to offer one up and spoil some of his material.

But I threw him to the ground and wrestled with him until he said Uncle and gave me one: Texans running back Arian Foster.

“I really like Arian Foster from the Houston Texans,” Jones-Drew said. “I think he’s a good running back, especially in their system, the Denver system. And I watched him in college too. It’s his style -- in that zone system, a bigger back (6-foot-1, 229 pounds) who can get a cut and get his shoulders square. He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. I really like him and I’ve got some sources, too.”

I hope he is correct and Foster does well, I will be pulling for Foster 14 out of their 16 games.

I have Foster on my fantasy team as a late pick. I picked him up knowing he could very well be a sleeper.

He got some help towards getting the starting gig; slaton (2nd team apparently) fumbled on the Cards 1 in the 2nd quarter and immediately got benched

Personally, I've always felt Slaton is more athletically gifted / able to get better yards/numbers (he seemed to pick up 43 total yards in two drives), but it's a moot point because he apparently still has a problem fumbling once a game and the coach will continue to keep him on the bench for that.

Foster should at least have no trouble being the starting RB; it's still going to be a running back by committee and, with the way Kubiak likes to do it, they'll still do the switch-off starts and smokescreens (he likes those)

However, till competition comes when Tate start to pick up his game, Foster should pretty much be the lead-off guy

i'm slightly surprised no one on the negative side here came out about foster losing a fumble in the preseason game

A Texans beat reporter was on MADDOG yesterday afternoon (listened as I drove up from SC to DC) and said the Texans were concerned about the fumbling tendencies of the current RBs and were considering looking on the market for more sure handed RBs.
