Yeah, exactly. The lack of coverage, especially by ESPN, is shocking. Shocking.

I may re-up on my mlb.tv tonight and watch this early in the morning.

Oh no, I blame the MLB much, much more than ESPN. You have to make this "event" more palatable for the USA. The team's fanbases have to wake up at 3 am to watch their teams. That's ridiculous.

I live that MLB.tv life. You know if Montero is catching either of these games? Getting that C eligibility sooner than later would be clutch.

I mean MLB network is replaying the Braves and Mets PRESEASON game while a live regular season game is being played and only being viewed in Seattle and the Bay Area.

There might be some weird exclusiveness involved, even something with Japanese television, but I dunno.
First of all, it seems like Yu Darvish v Ichiro in Japan would've been the dream match up anyway. But that's just me.

And TBrown, idk if Montero will catch all year. I mean, maybe some... but he's a dh dh dh

Nah he'll catch some. I say easily 45-50 games. I only need him to start 5 or appear in 10 for eligibility.

Yeah, he could get the eligibility for sure. I'm interested to see how he does, catcher or otherwise.

I read an article about him taking being a catcher very seriously. Said he had no intentions of being a full-time DH. Wants to transition to being a full-time catcher by next season. Article had scouts quoted as saying he was noticeably better. Still bad, but improving. As someone who could easily live life as a DH and make a killing, he still wants to work to catch. I respect that. I look forward to following his career.

I think he is a better defensive catcher than the reputation he got. He was a Yankees prospect, so he was over discussed and over analyzed... and with so many "why isn't he up why isn't he up" questions, the noted flaw was that "he isn't that great defensively" and then it got harped on so, so much... so he may not be as bad as we think. Then again, he could suck a big one haha.

If he is a legit 25-30 homer guy, my lord.

Hopefully, if he does catch, it doesn't cause him to get injured and break down quickly.

Again Selig proves his ignorance. This is the same man who thinks having a youtube account will hurt his brand.

However, the issue is this just can't happen. Opening Day, despite it's lack of appeal the last twenty year, still is a sacred holiday. It's the official start of spring. I love baseball. But his **** can't happen. You can't have Opening Day in Japan. It's idiotic.

It's the same ol same ol. Old-school baseball trying to do something that they *think* will not be considered old school baseball that ends up just being unbelievably illogical and nonsensical.

One day, if we can only hope, there will be a more modern commissioner that understands that baseball is no longer "America's Pastime" and start treating it's fan base with more respect and stop taking it's loyalty for granted.

The only good thing Selig has done is the wild card.

He's an embarrassment to the game. The fact MLB doesn't have a youtube account is probably the most idiotic thing I can imagine. I can't go on youtube and find Andruw Jones' spiderman catch except in grainy video and mlb.com's video is too difficult to find.

It's a joke.

I really hate that the teams' openers are staggered. This sucks waiting for baseball.
