“They had called my new coach and offered me that way,” Coleman said. “Some of them met coach [Derrick] Ansley at a coaching clinic in Missouri, earlier.” The offer count for the rising junior currently sits at 20, with the Vols and Penn State jumping on the bandwagon as of late. Coleman's offer list includes scholarships from SEC programs such as Georgia, LSU, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri and Vanderbilt. “I haven’t been on many visits yet. None really this spring,” Coleman said, noting that the COVID-19 crisis has had an impact on his plans.
“I was planning on coming up to Tennessee a few weekends ago, but that was right before the coronavirus kind of shut everything down. “I have been to Missouri before the new coaching staff was in place. I’ve also seen Vanderbilt, Georgia and LSU.”
“If the defensive back is close, I’m going to catch the ball because I have strong hands and they are usually big,” Coleman said. “I really work hard to excel in my hand strength. I believe I run the best routes in the nation and that helps me to create separation.”
The St. Louis native said he has been clocked as fast as 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
-VqColeman, who plans to visit Tennessee, Georgia, LSU and Ohio State over the summer, ultimately wants to play for a program that can prepare him for the next level. “I’ve got to get better wherever I go,” Coleman said. “And it needs to be a great environment for me and my family.” The athlete admitted he doesn’t know a lot about the Tennessee football program, but he is a fan of former Vol and current Saints running back Alvin Kamara. “He’s one of my favorite running backs,” Coleman said of Kamara. “When he played at Tennessee, I watched. That’s really all I know about the program, though.
