Detroit Lions: Jerod Mayo, MLB, Tennessee

I'm keeping my promise in retaining the stat that no NFL team has ever won a Super Bowl with a guy named Paris as its starting middle linebacker. But in all seriousness, the Lions need to keep adding talent to their defense. Jerod Mayo, fresh off an outstanding combine, is a huge improvement over anyone they currently have.

is this a fate worse than death, having to move to Detroit?

They have improved but the front office there is terrible!

What does that say about our program? The best draft pick this year is slotted at #45.

New England Patriots: Brad Cottam, TE, Tennessee

The Patriots, known for taking tight ends early in the draft, could use one as Kyle Brady won't be around much longer. Starter Ben Watson is inconsistent and didn't catch a pass in the Super Bowl, so Brad Cottam could end up being a potent weapon for Tom Brady by 2009.

Not sure we can really evaluate our team based on what their draft slot is.

The Rams need to keep upgrading their pathetic offensive line.

you dont think you can look at the number of draft picks we produce as a direct correlation to our talent level? Funny, during the 90's we sure sent alot of guys to the NFL, now.....not so much.

New York Giants: Jonathan Hefney, FS, Tennessee

It's going to be difficult for the Giants to retain Gibril Wilson. If he goes, they'll need a solid replacement.

The amount of players into the draft? Yes. Where they are picked in the draft? No. I may have misunderstood.

I don't think it says a lot about the program.

In last year's draft, Tennessee had 5 players taken in the first 84 picks.

By comparison, Florida's 5th guy was taken at #135...FSU's 5th guy was taken at #128....USC's 5th was at #211...Ohio St's 5th was at #138....Michigan at #142....LSU at #213...

I noticed that Ainge was no where to be found in any mock draft in the first 4 rounds

He's more of a situational player...like a return man or a 3rd down back...

He specializes in wisely and calmly throwing the ball out of bounds on third downs...for whichever team wants a qb to do that, he's going to be a steal.

dont forget the occasional hurried overthrow because a DE has entered his 10yd circle

It's not necessarily mobility he lacks it is his pocket presence that keeps him from doing better.
