Confidence vs Doubts, What if vs What is not, Fire a Coach vs hold on to a Coach vs Coach the long game. Good article but written on the fly and Opinion.

We have no clue what is going to happen.
Just buy a roster and be done with it. Learn to deal with the flack because you did buy one. OSU did it and the coach almost got his head taken off.

See what happens and the motivation that ensues when you go after a HC (Napier, Day)
As much as I hate to say it OSU will probably win it all.

At one point Majors job was threatened in 82-83 and the results of 85 gave him life and a run as he maintained a decent club with a disastrous 5-6 season.
In the 88 season, Fans out rage but no social media available so, a fan camped out/lived lived on a billboard in nashville for approximately 7 weeks until they won.

Florida has joined that exclusive club of Gasparilla Bowl Champions along with the likes GA Tech, Wake Forest, UCF, Marshall and Temple. A venerable list of who's who in major college football programs.

Just hand them the 2025 National Championship and avoid all the hassle of playing next year's season.

So true with Majors. In '82 his job was in a bit of jeopardy even though he had been given a long honeymoon period as a VFL, as he was delivering .500 seasons with a roster including the likes of Reggiw White, Willie Gault, Bill Bates, and Mike Cofer. The '82 win over Bama might have just bought him time until the glorious '85 season turned the program around.

would rather lose in the playoffs than win the buttlick bowl

No doubt but that's a snapshot in time. The point is, UF is ascending and UT seems at best stalled. Do you not agree ?

It's impossible to know what the teams will look like in a year but right now you'd have to think UF next year will be the better team.

we spent a few seasons' ends whooping the tar out of teams with bigger names than Tulane thinking it meant we were building steam for the following season.

Thats all it was. Thinking.

Florida played the last half of the season assuming they were getting a new coach while having no pressure to perform.

QB does look good though. I actually felt bad for you guys when it looked like he was gonna be out for longer than he was

I don't get that feeling at all, to be honest. The a-hole who wrote that article clearly has a hard-on for UT, and that seemed to be the point of that piece of trash. The national media as a whole is having a party with the UT loss.

'Momentum' is a weird thing, especially when you're talking about an entire off season and all the changes that programs go through now and the progress (or lack thereof) of returning players. Outside of Ole Miss, Florida didn't exactly beat a murderer's row down the stretch, and they have the same nasty schedule in 2025. We shall see.

The kind of article you would expect from a graduate of Florida - Journalism school.
Sure you would expect this kind of article but USA Today sometimes need filler articles.
This is through his eyes and opinion. Nothing here when you realize he is an UF grad living in Jacksonville Beach, FL.

Did you read the article ?

UF lost to UT in overtime and made a number of costly errors. UGA barely got by UF and beat UT handily. UF ended the reasons beating LSU and Ole Miss. UT faced no one of consequence (edit: towards end of regular season). We have Lagway coming back and receivers are signing up to play with him slinging it.

The difference between UF and UT, particularly at the end of the season, was minimal, if any.

A lot of coaching errors vs a decent defense. I get it and reason to fire Napier mid way through the season.

I read the article and it is simply an article of whataboutism for the future. It is about keeping the fanbase in the game and covering for a coach. It is a motivational piece and hope.

Your moment to post a FL graduate's article with an opinionated take on two programs. Nice job. Fact less article. Get that kind of crap out of here.

How about this statement, Tennessee beats FL in the swamp by 21 points next season. Great opinion but I have no facts to tell me it is going to happen, but I can write what I want and IMO Tennessee goes undefeated and wins the National Championship. JMO

I don't see any reason to write an article about it. Useless to do so. True Florida had momentum at the end of the year but the Vols did not lose it. Hidden injuries may have contributed to this assumption.

I'm all for UF pumping themselves up over the off-season. Let them go back to the low intensity practices, spring training, and strength and conditioning program. Hopefully, we do the exact opposite.

Heeeeyyyyyy, let's watch the trash talking on the Yeller Jackets ha ha. They gave the pups a much tougher game than we did

In case you haven't heard, they're in the same boat as us RE:feelings on Georgia. The enemy of my enemy is my friend lol.

No need to be putting strays on them.

UGA UT was a one score game til late. Anything but handily.

I like lagway but whatevers coming in new means nothing til they're in a game and we can see what they do. UT and UF recruit at about the same clip these days and if you're not top 3 its pretty much a crapshoot who turns out good and who busts.

We'll see next year

Merry Christmas ya filthy gator!

That's why I said you really can't be sure of your team a year from now, unless you are UGA or that level of consistency. So I agree both UT and UF will have a lot of unknowns going into 2025.

I'm glad we have you at home next year.

And Merry Xmas to you, too!

From the Matt Hayes article:

“Tennessee, meanwhile, was embarrassed by Georgia in its only significant game over the final five of the season”

It was a one score game with 5 minutes to go and we didn’t get off the field. Give me a break Matt.

Ah hell, you're right lawgator1.

Gators are headed to a dynasty and Tennessee will be begging Derek Dooley to coach us again by 2026. We're completely screwed and you guys are ascending to heights previously unreached in college football. Might as well just stop watching. Gosh, I sure enjoyed those two wins over Napier because we won't see any more for the foreseeable future!
