I've been watching a documentary Monty Python: Almost the Truth. It's a 6 parter and I'm through part 5 (three sir) err part 3.

It's available streaming from Netflix and if you are an MP fan you'd probably like it.

Could be the start of a new thread... all posts have to be a quote from a MP movie. There's certainly enuff of 'em.

Ummm - apparently there weren't enough for you to put one in your own post.

strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Oh, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you.

Oh but if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away.

"All right ... all right ... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order ... what have the Romans ever done for us?"

Edit: this will also be a future debate regarding the Obama administration.

I saw this when it came on some channel I don't usually watch on DirecTV. Worthwhile if you liked Python.

On another note, the DVD box set of the series is golden. It is far and away the most watched piece of media in my house.
