Drafted in 5th Round by Red Sox.

Chances he comes to Knoxville? The Vols really need him next year on the field to push the program in the right direction.

The shortstop signee still seems very interested in college life, and he made it sound like he'd wait for Vols to sort out their program.

This is referring to Mookie

Mookie is a huge get for us. We don't need to lose the key players in this class due to not having a coach. I know the signed players have not heard a word from anyone from the program since Raleigh was released.

No way he comes to school unless we hire Serrano or Holbrook....5th round especially by the rich BoSox will be VERY HARD to turn down

I agree but Mookie is very smart and his family doesn't need the money, his mother also really wants him to go to college. It will depend on the hire for sure.

I'll let you know when I hear something. He and my son are very close, played on same team together the last 7 years. I would have said he'd go to college...but the Red Sox are known for paying up to get their guys. My guess is $500k plus college and he goes.

On the other hand...I know he is very excited about going to UT with his friends.

Since 1986, I'm stunned the Red Sox would draft or associate with anyone named Mookie.

I had heard before the draft that he was going to be offered close to $600k to sign but college is very important to his family. I still say if the new coach comes in and wins over mom he will be a Vol!

If college is that important, it should not be much a of a stretch for him to negotiate that the club have to pay for his tuition after his career or at intervals in the offseason. Common practice.

Yes I know but the longer your out the harder it is to go back. Plus hes the type of player that could improve his status.
