Date: Jan 19, 2006

Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive released the 2005 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll Thursday and Tennessee led the way with 30 football student-athletes on the list.

This year's total marks the highest in program history for the third consecutive season, topping the 22 who were selected a year ago and the 20 who made the list in 2003. Under head coach Phillip Fulmer, Tennessee has had 214 SEC Academic Honor Roll qualifiers with no fewer than 10 each year.
Among the 456 student-athletes selected from the 12 schools, UT was third overall 46 student-athletes making the grade. Six volleyballers and 10 from the soccer team left Tennessee trailing only Kentucky (52) and South Carolina (50) for overall honors.

Three-time selections from football were Peter Chang (marketing), Jim Bob Cooter (sport management), Rob Smith (sociology, criminal justice), Ian Vinson (language and world business, Spanish), Sam Wantland (history) and James Wilhoit (speech communication).

Two-time honors went to Jon Catanzano (retail and consumer science), Jake Finlayson (civil engineering), Adam Gillem (exercise science), Bo Hardegree (exercise science), Bill Martin (agricultural economics and business), Robert Williams (political science) and Casey Woods (psychology).

Footballers making their first appearances were Erik Ainge (political science), Rick Clausen (recreation and leisure studies), Brad Cottam (finance), Stephen Darville (sport management), Dylan Dickey (marketing), Doug Edgar (mechanical engineering), Jeff Farrington (theatre), C.J. Fayton (recreation and leisure studies), Omar Gaither (sport management), Ben Greene (legal studies), Parys Haralson (sociology, criminal justice), Ryan Hill (biological sciences), Ryan Karl (exercise science), David Ligon (finance), Cameron Mayo (sport management), Kevin Shipley (journalism and electronic media) and Todd Vinson (sociology, criminal justice).

What does that have to do with anti-Fulmer? Are we saying that Fulmer is responsible for these guys' intelligence?
