On the heels of hearing that the created or saved jobs attributed to the ARRA cost $278,000 per; we get this little gem from Forbes.

Note that the WH is saying that in addition to jobs, the ARRA provided much needed infrastructure...

How Effective Was The 2009 Stimulus Program? - Nick Schulz - Economics 2.0 - Forbes

Eisenach and Caves looked at three areas that received stimulus funds, in the form of loans and direct grants, to expand broadband access in Southwestern Montana, Northwestern Kansas, and Northeastern Minnesota. The median household income in these areas is between $40,100 and $50,900. The median home prices are between $94,400 and $189,000.

So how much did it cost per unserved household to get them broadband access? A whopping $349,234, or many multiples of household income, and significantly more than the cost of a home itself.

Sadly, it’s actually worse than that. Take the Montana project. The area is not in any meaningful sense unserved or even underserved. As many as seven broadband providers, including wireless, operate in the area. Only 1.5% of all households in the region had no wireline access. And if you include 3G wireless, there were only seven households in the Montana region that could be considered without access. So the cost of extending access in the Montana case comes to about $7 million for each additional household served.

This is the problem with the pretentious notion that you can identify an authentic greater good and make it happen.

So where, exactly, did all that money go?

I remember something several years back where some large school system CA had X millions of dollars simply vanish on the spreadsheet. It went in and couldn't be tracked.

It's this sort of thing that makes me sit around munching Pringles and wondering why we don't have the government more involved with our lives.

We will not survive without it.

.

You'll see when Obama's campaign contributor list is posted. I am not saying that Obama and Dems generally do not believe in the (false) notion that ANY demand side spending is good to stimulate an economy. I am only saying that they thought they were killing two birds with one stone... stimulate the economy... pay off supporters and future supporters.

Glad to know you are going green, I'll bet the
government owes you a lot of carbon credits.

decreasing unemployment by -12%??

not exactly sure what that is supposed to mean, I understand that the picture is supposed to show the failure of the stimulus bill and the administration claims that unemployment would go above 8%, but the grammar is just...wrong.

For the sake of levity.
But this administration is a joke, how can one not
laugh at it??

That same money in the form of tax cuts would have created many private sector jobs by now. We would more than likely be under 7%.

We are up **** creek with a toothpick for a paddle.

For once we are in complete agreement except that I
like to look on the bright side, we are still afloat
and have the power of the vote, we can vote our
way out of this mess, even with a toothpick for a
paddle.

It would be nice to think that America has learned a
lesson it won't forget but then twenty years from now
we will have tons of more untutored voters entering
the polls and most likely the lesson will need to be
learned once again.

In American Universities marxism wields tremendous
influence. US News nad World report in a Jan 25, 1982
ariticle stated that therre were 10,000 marxist professors
on America's campuses.

An article in the Aug 29, 1989 issue of the Denver Post
stated that as many as 90% of faculty members as
some midwestern universities are marxists.

The influence of these socialist professors shouldn't
be underestimated.

Same question they asked Bernie Madoff.

You have just witnessed the greates heist in the
history of the world and the victim is the America
citizenry.

I don't mind being robbed, stuff happens but to rob
my grandchildren is something for which I will not
sit still.
