My favorite part:
Oversigning has become a controversial issue in the SEC. Critics say it has led schools to "greyshirt" some prospects, making them delay their enrollment until January because there is no room on the roster.

University of Florida president Bernie Machen called the tactic "morally reprehensible."

Yeah, it's so awful to make them wait a semester for an education they might not otherwise get.

I have no problem with oversigning in general, but I think a situation like the Porter kid at LSU is "morally reprehensible".

And that's the point, give the kid enough information to decide to risk a greyshirt or go somewhere else.

Agreed.

Heard someone, forgot who, say the rule should be once they set foot on campus for class they are locked in for the upcoming school year, whether than be in January, June or August.
