As I know most here hate UK (as you rightfully should) and REALLY hate Demarcus Cousins (as you rightfully should), I thought I would post this for your viewing pleasure.

Seeing as the UK game is tomorrow, this gives everyone the chance to degrade them even more before tip off.

Personally, I think Cal is blowing smoke up everyones arse.

Since most True Blue fans expect both John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins to leave after this season for the big bucks of the NBA, and Cal talks to NBA executives all the time, where do the top two freshman stand?

So, LEX18 Sports asked Cal if he expected DeMarcus Cousins to be drafted high.

"I think he's going to come back," says Cal. "He wants to come back."

Do you think John will be drafted high?

"I think he could be. He tells me he wants to come back. I don't know. We'll have to talk when this is over. These guys, I don't know if I want to coach them another year."

I don't even know what the he'll that last statement means. But if they win a title they really don't have anything else to prove.

If they win a title, there is no way in hell it happens. I don't think its happening anyway.

If they have brains in their head they won't be playing ball for Kentucky this time next year.

Why? College is freaking awesome. They're going to be rich either way.

Why take the risk of injury or lowering your draft stock and, in turn, making less money by coming back? (I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not).

I wasn't. I'd roll out, but I can understand wanting to stay when professors don't care what you do and you're a BMOC. Bet they have ever bought a beer.

Well your right, college years are definitely going to be the best years of their lives. Nothing like being the BMOC and the NBA season can really take a toll on them. But I still think if you're a top 5 draft pick, you have to go to pro. Take advantage of your opportunities just because there is a chance it may not be there later.

Heck, why doesn't everyone use your logic? Why did Berry decide to leave?

I didn't say it was brilliant, just that I understand it.

I thought Wall didn't like Cal.
Personally, I don't see either one of them hanging around. Anytime your a top 10 pick you should go.

Don't believe everything you hear from ESPN as gospel. They misreported that story in a horrible fashion.

There are 2 scenario's that happen. UK gets to a final four or wins a title, and Wall, Cousins AND Patterson are gone.

OR....(longshot)

We get upset in the tourney and ALL 3 of them comeback to try and make another run. Patterson has stated before that he would come back if everyone returned.

Those are all pipe dreams though, IMO. Those guys are gone.

If those guys don't leave in light of the impending rookie salary cap tightening in '11, they have been smoking the wacky weed too much.

Is there a rookie salary cap for the NBA? I thought it was only NFL...

Pretty sure there is a rookie cap for the NBA but not for the NFL. They would like to institute one for the NFL but NFLPA won't allow it.

This is nothing but smoke.

There is no good reason for any of the three to be in blue after the first weekend in April, at the latest. It is widely discussed in the Bluegrass that Cousins, in particular, has made his decision clear by some of his actions that could make returning an impossibility.

I realize it's all about how the academic calendar is structured, but I don't think it's right that a football player who doesn't pass X amount of classes during his season misses the bowl game, but a basketball player can attend 0 classes during the majority of his season and still play in the tournaments.

Not saying Cousins is skipping all classes - I have no idea. Just saying that he and the other pros could skip all classes and leave campus in April.

A maneuver pioneered by PJ Carlisimo when he acquired Andrew Gaze for one season back in '88-'89. It got Seton Hall all the way to the finals of the NCAA tournament. If I remember correctly, Gaze signed with an Australian league (his home country) like within a week of the loss to Michigan.

Cousins needs to stay at UK... I'm pretty sure players have to have 1 year in between graduating HS and going pro. We all know that Cousins is fresh out of the womb.

It means that they are going pro. It also means that Cal is going to the NBA.

See SI article about William Wesley's new Creative Agency where he is representing mostly NBA players and coaches. Cal is named in the article.

As for the players, I agree. As for Cal, I think he might go back to the NBA, but its going to be awhile. This article also came out a few days ago, in which he had this to say:

"Calipari spoke fondly about guiding the Nets to the playoffs the next season. He also shrugged off reports he’s a Nets’ coaching candidate, saying after 20 years "in the outposts" – including New Jersey – he doesn’t want to leave a "premier job" he compared to coaching the Lakers or managing the Yankees.

"It took me 20 years," Calipari said. "My thing is, let’s get this going. Let’s sustain. Let’s do it for a period of time. I’d like to know how the other half lives for a while."

TIFWIW. Coach speak can only be taken with a grain of salt. However, while I believe he will go back to the NBA, its not imminent.
